I was looking for my next book and this one showed up on sale. The Universe pointed and I listened. I’m VERY happy I did. I loved every minute of the book but the last chapter really got to me. That chapter was so amazing I listened to it twice and intend on listening to again soon.

Story
Here are the thrills, grandeur, and unabashed fun of the Greek myths, stylishly retold by Stephen Fry. The legendary writer, actor, and comedian breathes life into ancient tales, from Pandora's box to Prometheus's fire, and transforms the adventures of Zeus and the Olympians into emotionally resonant and deeply funny stories, without losing any of their original wonder. Learned notes from the author offer rich cultural context. This volume is a doorway into a captivating world.

Story
A plucky farm boy will find more than he's bargained for on his quest to awaken the sleeping princess in her cursed tower. First there's the Dark Lord, who wishes for the boy's untimely death...and also very fine cheese. Then there's a bard without a song in her heart but with a very adorable and fuzzy tail, an assassin who fears not the night but is terrified of chickens, and a mighty fighter more frightened of her sword than of her chain-mail bikini. This journey will lead to sinister umlauts, a trash-talking goat, and the Dread Necromancer Steve....

Cute story often funny

WAY too much juvenile boy humor - i.e. poop jokes, fart jokes, potty humor and other gross stuff young boys (and sometimes girls) think are delightfully funny. An occasional one is expected but this seemed like there was another one every few paragraphs. You’re a better writer than this Kevin.

Too much Christian
Reviewed: 05-13-24
The author explains how as a child who didn’t quite fit into the world they lived in were persecuted berated, made fun of, and even tortured physically and mentally. They went on to explain their rationale for being willing to perform curses based on - did they not deserve to have justice against those who persecuted them.
Then the author chose to rationalize including Christian believes and practices in their witchcraft. I assume that’s because the author had not experienced Christian’s persecuting them… though I find that hard to believe considering the authors lifestyle choices.
It has been my experience that the Christians who were once persecuted in ancient times are now far worse persecutors themselves. And have been so throughout their history… Burning, witches anyone?
So I personally find it repulsive to include them and their practices in a belief system and practice that they actively, even today, persecute and try their best to stomp out and destroy. I don’t believe the author would choose to include their childhood bullies in their practice. I think they would find that as repulsive as I find the judgmental, persecuting, bullying Christians being included in a witch’s practice.

But the Reaper is also Darrow, born of the red soil of Mars: a husband, a father, a friend. The worlds once needed the Reaper. But now they need Darrow. Because after the dark age will come a new age: of light, of victory, of hope.

Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Story
Most days, Sarya doesn't feel like the most terrifying creature in the galaxy. Most days, she's got other things on her mind. Like hiding her identity among the hundreds of alien species roaming the corridors of Watertower Station. Or making sure her adoptive mother doesn't casually eviscerate one of their neighbors. Again. And most days, she can almost accept that she'll never know the truth - that she'll never know why humanity was deemed too dangerous to exist.

Great… Then not so much
Reviewed: 11-10-21
The story starts off great I was loving it and looking forward to the next chapter. Then in the third and fourth section the story starts to meander and began to make me furrow my brow wondering where the heck it was going. By the fifth section… I think the author might’ve been smoking something. I think the author was trying to be thought-provoking but in the end, was just boring me to death by dragging out grand theories over and over. Just not impressed with it back part of the story. I felt kind of ruined the whole thing.
