Love the story line Duke loses all just to find love. A disinherited Duke finds his one and only in the vicar’s daughter. Gave a back story of his haughty past behavior and his slow transformation. And if you like steam this book has it. Narrator not a 5 but a solid performance I could enjoy. Not like some narrators who sigh and moan in a high pitch. You will want this book

Scandal has rocked the city of London. Colin Eversea, a handsome, reckless unapologetic rogue is sentenced to hang for murder and, inconveniently for him, the only witness to the crime disappears. Then again, throughout history, the Everseas have always managed to cheat fate in style: Colin is snatched from the gallows by a beautiful, clever mercenary. Cool-headed, daring Madeleine Greenway is immune to Colin's vaunted charm. Her mission is not to rescue Colin but to kidnap him, and to be paid handsomely for it.

Good Story TERRIBLE Narrator
Reviewed: 01-19-23
Truly the narrator has done 400 books with that fake, screeching voice. The only reason I finished was because of the mystery. At that it took me 3 weeks before I could stomach her voice. I could only speak air about an hour a day. My time is too precious to waste on such a narration. Truly there are great narrators but she is not one. Will not be buying the rest of the series.

When I read the negative reviews I said “Not Hoyt”. I was right. As always she delivers 1 A mystery with plenty of intrigue 2. Her hot bits are so compelling that you, as the reader, feels the heat 3 Turns and twists never count her out there is always a little surprise 4. A love story with HEA 5. Also there is a hint of modern woman by The Wise Women And no one does a narration as well as Ashford McNab. She has done one of Kathleen Woodiwiss and I will buy it first because I always enjoy her narrations. Trust me you need this book. I will now listen to the next one. Happy Reading to all

Needs New Narrator
Reviewed: 01-07-23
James always excels at blending children in her novels this was no exception. However I did not think it was realistic to fall in love in one night. The H was a little boring with his over the top comments of love. I liked the children and our h. But it is time to get a new narrator that does not over dramatize and draw out the syllables. Really there are great narrators Change now.

Laird Keir McQuade is a newcomer to his title, and has much work before him to restore the McQuade honor. Finding a wife is an excellent start. He's duty-bound to go to court and swear homage to his king anyway, a perfect opportunity - were not court women trussed in stupid fashions and corrupted with false mannerisms. Enjoyed the story about the court of James 1. Wine always includes tidbits of history with her story. I liked the info about the tower. Wonderful love story just a little too steamy for me plus a little mystery. The narrator did well on voices and I felt the narrative was pleasing not like Justine Eyre who tends to moan after ever sentence.
