Story
Sadie hasn't had an easy life. Growing up on her own, she's been raising her sister, Mattie, in an isolated small town, trying her best to provide a normal life and keep their heads above water. But when Mattie is found dead, Sadie's entire world crumbles. After a somewhat botched police investigation, Sadie is determined to bring her sister's killer to justice and hits the road following a few meager clues to find him. When West McCray - a radio personality working on a segment about forgotten towns in America - overhears Sadie's story, he becomes obsessed with finding the girl.

This was a great book and a riveting story but I found it looking for good books for 8th graders and middle schoolers. This is not content I would want my middle schooler reading. I am glad I screened it first.

Story
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

There is definitely some language in this book but I found myself wanting my kids to listen. So many lessons learned from a life that in many ways is so different than mine but a human experience that is in so many ways completely universal.

I enjoyed listening and then reserved the book at the library for my 13 yr old. It is hard to find books for this age group that are well written but not sensationalize to buy cheap readers. This book is educational and gives a great perspective for our western kids who don'tknow how good they have life. It's also interesting and fun to read. Great job!

In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

this book grabbed my attention but what I really liked was my 6th grade son was all in too. a few minor swear words but its really hard to find a book that you can listen to with your kids around. also loved that it didn't down play men. I showed a strong Male figure in a positive light and too often you don't see that now. great book
