Story
Growing up on the Navajo Indian Reservation, David Crow and his siblings idolized their dad. Tall, strong, smart, and brave, the self-taught Cherokee regaled his family with stories of his World War II feats. But as time passed, David discovered the other side of Thurston Crow, the ex-con with his own code of ethics that justified cruelty, violence, lies - even murder. A shrewd con artist with a genius IQ, Thurston intimidated David with beatings to coerce him into doing his criminal bidding. David's mom, too mentally ill to care for her children, couldn't protect him.

Quite a far fetched story. The 20 year plotting for revenge... really? It was free so there's that.

Glad it was free. It's trite. The main character comes off as a self obsessed and paranoid person. And the husband at the end... never going to let you out of my sight, not for one second... um ok.

Remember that series Scooby-Doo? I'm pretty sure that's where the author gets her inspiration. Alot of supernatural ongoings that are neatly (& boringly) explained away at the last minute. I listened to two of these books, first one was free and I bought the 2nd just to see how it ended. I shouldn't have.

Story
It was four o'clock in the morning. A young woman pushed through the hospital doors. Staff would later say they thought the woman was a new mother, returning to her child - and in a way, she was. She walked into the nursery, where a baby girl lay sleeping. The infant didn't wake when the woman placed her gently in the shopping bag she had brought with her. There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have seen it, either on the internet or the news.

Loved it. I started this as a free read to fill some time on a long drive and was pleasantly surprised! Yes, there are some he said, and then she said, moments in the narration. But to me it drove home the simplicity and the heart of the person it portrayed.

I liked it. Kept me entertained and for once I actually didn't suspect the twist towards the end. I thought the narrator did a good job, although she did put some inflections on her words that sometimes made you wonder what she actually said. Not super impressed with the Rescue scene, felt implausible.
