About this listen

AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

A USA TODAY BESTSELLER

Her father was the town detective. Her mother its most notorious criminal. Now the secrets of Mirror Lake are coming to the surface…and changing everything. "[A] stunning psychological thriller from one of the most insightful writers around” (CrimeReads), don’t miss the latest from Megan Miranda, the instant New York Times bestselling author of All the Missing Girls, The Last to Vanish, and The Only Survivors.

“Miranda…exposes revelation after twisty revelation…Small-town claustrophobia and intimacies alike propel this twist-filled psychological thriller” (Kirkus Reviews, starred review).

When Hazel Sharp, daughter of Mirror Lake’s longtime local detective, unexpectedly inherits her childhood home, she’s warily drawn back to the town—and people—she left behind almost a decade earlier. But Hazel’s not the only relic of the past to return: a drought has descended on the region, and as the water level in the lake drops, long-hidden secrets begin to emerge…including evidence that may help finally explain the mystery of her mother’s disappearance.

Riveting and suspenseful, Daughter of Mine is Megan Miranda’s best novel yet, filled with “delicious twists, dark secrets, and a deadly past” (Ashley Elston, New York Times bestselling author of First Lie Wins) that will keep you listening late into the night.

Amazing story narration could have been better

I miss Rebekkah Ross narrating Megan Miranda’s books. Her tone was the icing on the cake to me. The book is set in the south and while it’s not a fake southern accent (thank God) the narrator is a little to polished especially on words with TT in them (gotten) and it just threw me off from the storyline.

The story was great and twisty and kept me guessing till the end. My fav will always be all the missing girls, but this one may be my next fav (or a perfect stranger then this). I love how Megan Miranda truly captures complex family dynamics, the way things look different when we see them as adults versus kids, and of course, she is a master at creating well developed, strong and dynamic characters.

Selfishly looking forward to her next story already 🥰

Thick Dysfunctional Family Drama for the Win!

3.5 stars, actually, for Daughter of Mine by Megan Miranda. I thought this was a really good book. It had a decent mystery and even a few creepy, spooky moments plus some thick dysfunctional family drama that really leant to the tension in the story. I would definitely recommend it. I thought the ending almost went off the rails but not quite. So 3.5 stars instead of 4 which is still a good read for me! I read it in one sitting so that should tell you something!

Secrets

I’d liked the way the story built and how the drought presented the backdrop for the lack of resolution. It kept me guessing.

I particularly enjoyed the family dynamics and small town atmosphere portrayed. And it kept me guessing until the very end!

The mystery!

This book kept you on your toes of actually who was the killer and why. Just when I thought I had figured it out, it was not that person.

A great mystery . You'll be dumbfounded by who the killer is.

loved this story, although books written in the first voice are not favorites, usually. Do not miss this thriller!

Boring

Wow. That was disappointing. No thrill to it, so much maybe and not enough action to keep me on the edge of my seat. Definitely taking a break from Miranda for a while as this is the second book of hers I’ve been burned by. Perhaps she should try another genre? She certainly can write, but maybe thrillers aren’t for her?
