About this listen

Galactic apocalypse has come and gone.

Max Slater is a man on a mission.

A life of salvaging tech and fighting horrors in deep space has given him nerves of steel, but now he finds himself coming up against the toughest job of his life.

On a frozen, not-quite-dead planet, a desperate salvage operation has gone wrong. Max has been hired to investigate. What's left of civilization badly needs that salvage. But when his own rescue operation goes just as wrong, he finds himself fighting for his life.

Stranded, wounded, and unarmed, Max must brave the icy, monster-infested nightmare, rescue some particularly attractive ladies, and find some way to complete their salvage mission and escape...

Sci fi survival story

mc is a space soldier who moderates his emotions with resolve but isn't afraid to feel things. LI one is a medic he came to rescue and LI two is his life long friend he's been afraid to get into a relationship with. The story is some of the best of vixen and lust's work. a space zombie improvement over A Warm Place.

Thoroughly mediocre

The first female encountered immediately drops not so subtle hints that MC is a likely candidate for settling down and having kids. And by immediately, I mean they've known each other for all of 15 minutes. She then throws herself at him the second they find a bed. The resultant sex scene is underwhelming, to say the least.

The inner monolog/actions of the MC don't really make a ton of sense. He's supposedly searching for and extremely concerned by the potential status of his long time female BFF. His plan is to find her and bang her immediately. (I actually burst out laughing the first time that came up.) Naturally, any sense of urgency to find this gal goes right out the window the second the first chick shows up. The whole thing is honestly surreal.

After the first couple of hours, I threw in the towel. I've been pretty happy with other Misty material so I'm not really sure what to think here. Disappointing. From the chunk I made it through, it felt like a low-effort cash grab.

The narrator was fine, if uninspired. Then again, that's pretty understandable given the writing.
