Story
A delightfully funny, fantastically inventive collection of twenty unearthed short stories by Sir Terry Pratchett, the award-winning and bestselling author and creator of the phenomenally successful Discworld fantasy series. These rediscovered tales were written by Terry Pratchett under a pseudonym for British newspapers during the 1970s and 1980s. The stories have never been attributed to him until now, and might never have been found—were it not for the efforts of a few dedicated fans.

Editorial reviews
Young British television actress Stephanie Leonidas reprises her film role as Helena Campbell, the daughter of circus performers who is cast into a dark realm that is part Alice in Wonderland part Wizard of Oz, and part Salvador Dali. In a moment of rebellion, Helena wishes her mother dead. Later that evening, her mother falls into a coma, and Helena soon falls into a bizarre fantasy world in which a Dark Queen tries to wipe out Helena's past and make her a Dark Princess. Leonidas reads with a rich, sweet voice but lacks the energy and emotional intensity of her on-screen performance. Still, her enticing accent coupled with Gaiman's off-kilter storytelling makes this a delightful, if at times spooky, family audiobook.

Great Accompaniment to the Movie
Nice it was narrated by Helena herself. And the story is overall good. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of details in a lot of places. There was a lot of description lacking and I honestly only knew what things or characters looked like because I saw the movie. Anyone experiencing this alone will have to imagine quite a bit.

Childhood Relived
The movie made from this book was a favorite of mine as a child. It was one of the biggest inspirations for me going into the art field. Now, older, listening to the audiobook is like taking a stroll down memory lane.
The voice actor reading this is a perfect fit for Helena’s attitude and snarky comebacks and is still able to convey Valentine’s characteristic charm. I’d recommend this to literally any and everyone looking for a something to listen to or as a bedtime story for children.
Thank you for giving me back a piece of me I hadn’t realized I’d lost!

Delightful fantasy
Neil Gaiman is so good I decided to follow him on Twitter, and found myself irritated that he was tweeting instead of writing another book for me to read. He seems to often meet the standard definition of a fantasy story: his characters leave the 'real' world for a different one, and then return after having resolving a personal conflict. This one involves parents and children and otherworld parents and children. I don't want to spoil the story--just enjoy!
