About this listen

Just seven minutes younger than her twin sister, Evelyn Eve Carter has always felt like the shadow sister. She's fun when her sister is functional, more go with the flow than the structured nature of her womb-mate. Even looking exactly alike, she somehow still managed to come second to the first guy she really crushed on, Nick Atterton. Her sister's high school boyfriend. Her sister's near-fiancé. Fleeing halfway across the country to attend college in Miami, FL, Eve hopes to distance herself from that beacon of perfection and the daily soul crushing feeling of inadequacy.

Nick Atterton has loved the game of hockey since he was six years old. The next closest thing to that pure, unfiltered adoration was his high school girlfriend. But when he cant commit to forever, they end things. Just in time for his trade to Miami.

A quick trip home for Christmas ends up rerouted when Nick and Eve find their flight emergency landed in Nashville due to an unexpected ice storm. Will tinsel and trinkets be the only thing exchanged this holiday season? Or will they be permanently added to the naughty list?

Dropped Puck Series is a six book hockey romance series following the Chicago Sharks as they fight through a season of ups and downs. An interconnected collection of stand-alones, each book can be listened to on their own, but I do recommend following the order in which the books are published, as the characters do make follow up appearances in the subsequent stories.

Great Addiion

This was a great addition to the series. I loved the development of their relationship. I did like how we got Eve’s POV with the scenes from the previous book. I do think it was lacking with interaction with Darren, Emerson and Nick though. It shouldn’t have all fell to Eve. And considering the long history between them all and the fact that nick and Darren were like brothers it’s hard to believe there wasn’t even a phone call between the,. To me that was the only real issue otherwise it was a great story and I enjoyed how it all played out. Narration was a little tough in some parts especially the male characters.

A bit of a cringe.

This was a cute romance with characters I really enjoyed, until it became rather cringeworthy. It's the 3rd story in the Dropped Puck series and involves Eve Carter and Nick Atterton. Nick is a professional hockey player for the Miami Fins. Eve has a twin sister, Emerson, who was Nick's girlfriend until they decided they were better off as friends, which clears the way for Eve who has always adored him. She is going to school in Miami, and Nick has just been traded to the NHL's Miami Fins. What should be a positive relationship, albeit slightly taboo due to the sisters dating the same boy, becomes somewhat cringeworthy when Nick tries to convince Eve that it's over with Em. It could have been done well, but it missed the mark. Nick had no trouble throwing Emerson under the bus, telling Eve that things had never been all that great with Emerson, but that she (Eve) really ticks the boxes for him. He said that Emerson was slightly prudish and didn't really want to try things other than missionary; whereas, he's lusting for all of the things he's never done with any other woman that he thinks he has in Eve. Fortunately for him, Eve is up for anything and, apparently, is already a pro! "I've never come this hard! I've never taken a woman bare!" (Not ever in the seven years he dated Emerson?) How many times, and in different ways, can he possibly invalidate what he had with Emerson. I actually had to stop listening for a while because I couldn't tolerate his immature thought processes. Eve had insecurity issues, thinking that she was second best, unlike her 'perfect sister, Em, who was adored by everybody. More of a pity party than anything else, this got old real fast. When I thought that things couldn't get much worse, Nick turned into a whiny boy, angry that Em hadn't stayed after his game to talk to him. Of course, these "adults" break up and don't speak again...until they come face to face at the airport as they both head back to Minnesota for the holidays. Eve is terrified about having to tell Em that she's dating Nick, but it doesn't come down to that...it's much worse. She didn't know how to explain that she and Nick were together. Needless to say, Em sees a text that Eve is reading and, with the apparent dirty talk, she figures out what Eve has been hiding. Em is understandably shocked and is upset that Eve hadn't at least mentioned that she was with her ex, and I understood entirely how she felt. Poor, downtrodden, childish Eve has to whine how "she doesn't measure up to her perfect sister. Why can't I, for once, have someone of my own?" At that point, I was so frustrated with her lack of growth and continual "woe is me" inner thoughts, that I really didn't want to see Nick and Eve together. However, there was a happy ending. The narration was very well done by Amber Goode. Her dynamic, well-paced voice brought each of the characters to life with a unique personality and attitude.

Em and Eve

This is the third book, but can be read independent of the other in the Drop Puck Series. Nick and his neighbors Eve and Em grew up together. Em and Nick were a couple in high school and college. After a while, they break up but stay friends. As people do, they move around. Eve lives in Florida, and Nick is traded to a Florida based hockey team. They end up meeting up as friends, since they live in the same area. Eve was always attracted to Nick. Nick realizes he is attracted to Eve. Nature takes its course, and romance develops. It is a sweet story and shows what great things could be missed out on if you don’t take a chance. Don’t let society’s opinion keep you from who you love. sweet

Sweet, though a little taboo story about dating one's twin sister's ex-boyfriend.
Still, it was sweet and written well enough, with adorable characters.
The narrator was okay, and I gave only 3 stars as I prefer to have 2 narrators when there are 2 POVs.
