I’m not usually a fan of American narrators, the accent I too much and grates on me, but Joe Hempel did a fantastic job, was very pleasant to listen too and far from over acting.
Great story and had me in from the very start.

It could have been a really enjoyable story, but the narration was atrocious.
I slowed down the speed down to 7:5 but it was still hard to distinguish between characters. Her narration was seriously pathetic, boring and hard to follow the story. I would say she was as bored as the story seemed

Unfortunately I couldn’t get past quarter through the book, because of the narrator. Shame, it had so much potential Really bad choice, sorry! There was little difference between each character, and trying to work out if the woman detective 🤨 was speaking or a man. I just didn’t conjure up a female, more like a drag queen. Disappointed especially as the author is Australian 😟

Great, creative concept and cute romantic story.
I can’t imagine meeting and divulging my life, to a row of passengers on a plane ✈️ I’ve never gone past introducing myself and telling which city I lived in. Perhaps I need to be more open and adventurous 😉?
Bernadette’s character and voice over was irritating. She says “ I love YOUS” to her children - editor attention!
Reference to Hayley’s marrying Tom Cruise, because he was a decent, nice guy - for many reasons he is not a great example to use as a replacement for her abusive husband.

So glad I decided to give this book a try. I was a little apprehensive because there were no ratings or reviews.....so I am the first to tell you this is a great story. It was full of twists, and surprises which kept me listening all day. The narrator was faultless, which makes the story flow.
I'll definitely be watching out for more Ella Drummond's books.

The RIP and The Shallows are well worth the read

Shame it could have been a good story but the narration was terrible. Flat and no pausing, it sounded like she was reading as fast as she could straight from a newsroom. I tried slowing the speed but it needed reducing so much she sounded drunk. The woman had a nice voice but she ruined the book. Sorry faith Martin but she was as bad in your last novel too.
