After watching the movie I wanted to learn more about these women. I did! My only downside of this book was that it was too short!!

This is a book that all parents, teachers and politicians need to read. Some of the book might be a little outdated because some of the changes needed are finally being implemented such as banning phones at school! I highly recommend this book!!!

A Different Insight into the Horrors and Survivors of the Holocaust

After listening to an interview of the author, I knew I had to read her book as I knew nothing about how these women survived the Holocaust through sewing fashionable clothing for the German elite. Besides listening to the book being read by the author I also was able to see photos of the women via the Kindle edition of the book. I highly recommend the book, especially with the rise of antisemitism around the world.

I wanted to read this book because it was on the list for English high school students to read. It was quite good and as expected quite different than the movie with quite a bit left out but in most parts it was entirely different! No problems with that because it was like reading almost an entirely different story!
I didn’t give it many stars for the story, not because I didn’t like the story, which I did, but because of the way the story line was presented. I don’t like it when authors jump around in different timelines. All the Light We Can Not See has the story set mostly in the 1940s, then jumps back to when the main characters are young, then back to the 40s, then young, then, schooling, different times and places during the war, then back to near the end etc. I don’t understand why authors can’t write, in most parts, in chronological order. Very confusing!
Other than that, I would highly recommend it , especially for those who like historical fiction during WW2.

I have completed Holocaust studies in Israel so I can teach the Holocaust to high school students. This book reminds me of those studies and my visit to Auschwitz. With anti semitism surfacing again, this is a timely book to read and share.

Sad sad sad

This is not an uplifting book. It is a very sad one. Matthew’s struggle with addictions, self loathing, depression and feelings of unworthiness made me very sad. The ending should have given me pleasure knowing that he was on top of everything and feeling good but it was always a shock when he repeatedly said that he should be dead, knowing that he is. His memoir was even more confronting because HE was reading it. Finally, I’ll give my own opinion on his relationship with God. I decided to read the book when I heard that he “found God” but listening to him I realized he hadn’t really because he still felt unworthy of love. I wish he had found a relationship with Jesus and realized that he was loved by him.

I bought this book because I love almost anything associated with Tom Hanks. His explanation of how movies are made was cleverly achieved in a novel. It is no wonder they cost so much to be produced. I have to admit that my mind wandered off at times but I still enjoyed it, especially when Tom read his parts. If you’re a movie buff I’m sure you’d enjoy the book.
