Story
For his victims, for their families and for the investigators tasked with finding him, the senselessness and brutality of the Golden State Killer's acts were matched only by the powerlessness they felt at failing to uncover his identity. Then, on April 24, 2018, authorities arrested 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo at his home in Citrus Heights, Calif., based on DNA evidence linked to the crimes. Amazingly, it seemed, evil finally had a name. Please note: This work contains descriptions of violent crime and sexual assault and may not be suitable for all listeners.

This was a good finishing chapter into the Golden State killers story.
The parts of the book where victims spoke about their attacks gave me such chills.
I am just so happy that in the end the did finally catch this guy.

Story
For more than 10 years, a mysterious and violent predator committed 50 sexual assaults in Northern California before moving south, where he perpetrated 10 sadistic murders. Then he disappeared, eluding capture by multiple police forces and some of the best detectives in the area. Three decades later, Michelle McNamara, a true crime journalist who created the popular website True Crime Diary, was determined to find the violent psychopath she called the Golden State Killer. Michelle pored over police reports, interviewed victims, and embedded herself in the online communities that were as obsessed with the case as she was.

I don't normally read these kinds of books but have this one a go anyway.
I found it interesting and really feel it's a Shane that the writer herself wasn't able to finish the novel.
I do commend her colleagues and editors for making a really good effort to piece together the parts she hadn't completed though.
Well done!

I picked this simply for the fact I would take a while to get through the whole series.
what surprised me was that I grew attached to the characters and wear hanging out for the times I could listen uninterrupted each night to see what would happen next.
I'm actually really sad it's over because they felt like old friends.
I was disappointed in book 12 though as I really felt like the series got cut short in that one.
Now to figure out what to do with the rest of my life >.<

As an Aussie reader this book was a little confusing to start with. While it's not overly political, there is still a political culture going on that is totally foriegn to me.
Alabama is definitely another world, and Jacob Bonds sucks you into it and immerses you in this world of locals who are invaded by "military" guys and have their town turned upside down.
As the characters try to figure out what the real deal is, it feels a tiny bit Fargo-esk as they mystery unfolds.
I loved it. Will definitely be hanging out for the next book!

I actually just tried this one as I needed something longer than 12hrs to get me by for the week.
But I was pleasantly surprised by this different take on a "zombie" style novel.
While I'm a traditional zombie gal at heart this one started and finished in a refreshing way that kept my interest and broke me away from the same old zombie tales I usually go for.
The best thing is you get the full story in one download and don't have any cliff hangers part way through while you scramble to find the next book and wonder if you have a spare credit left to buy it.

The reading was very good though which is what got me through as a whole.
I had bought it on kindle and struggled to get into it. Glad I got it on Audible instead or I wouldn't have finished it.
