I needed a change from my favourite murder mysteries so decided to listen to this story. I’m glad I did. The story was very well written and the plot was very interesting. It covered a couple of difficult subjects such as the death penalty and the need for the law to be acted upon with honesty.

I enjoyed the story and felt the plot line was good. The end did leave a a sense of something not quite finished though. The narration was terrible. He kept loosing his place and rereading lines. Sometimes twice. I almost stopped listening half way through.

At first I was not sure as the lead character was a bit grumpy and often sounded rude. However she did mellow under tutelage from her Sergeant. Story line was great.

Wasn’t sure when I read the title if I would enjoy story. What a welcome relief after some of the more gruesome serial murder stories I have listened to. This book had just the right mix of mystery and personal life of the characters. I will read (listen to) more books by this author.

When a worker goes missing from a North Sea gas platform, there seem to be just two possible explanations - it was a tragic accident or a suicide. It does not take Smith and his detectives long, however, to discover that James Bell led a double life back onshore in Kings Lake, a life complicated enough to make him at least one dangerous enemy. Before the case can be unraveled, Smith must get a new team working together.
