I have been bingeing this book series for the last few weeks straight! 12 of them so far!
I am supprised at myself for not wandering to any other books between, and the insatiable craving for my favourite fruit (mangos) that it has lit. This series is absolutely being added to my favourite books list!
this is an isekai/portal fantasy LitRPG
Strong female characters -- check
occasional dumb puns -- check
actual character progression (for all character) -- check
twists that you won't see and twists that you will -- yep
cool life threatening magical battles, a lot of mangos and the story's not politics focused -- tripple check
plus actually exploreing the magic system!
If any of this sounds interesting to you
join Elaine on her journey through her secound life.
The road is long, starting from the foundations up, but the world building is fantastic (especially when you see the impacts in the later books) and even more intricate than you might think.
[gonna add a content warning here>>there are a few moments in the first few books where there is some terrible treatment of women and slavery.]
p.s I am pretty sure the MC has ADHD

I was not prepared for revelations within this book. I have a thousand emotions at the last line ☆
If you are a fan of the series you will deffinately enjoy it. It does slightly move more towards slice of life but that is not a bad thing, the series is literally Elaine's life story.
I look forward to the next one with excitement!!

Story
The city of Celum is not much like Liscor at all. While Erin is surrounded by familiar, human faces, she’s far from home and without her inn. At the same time, a certain ill-tempered Lyonette is squatting in Erin’s inn, and Goblins are on the move. The Goblin Lord’s threat reaches across the entire region, and the Redfang tribe has rallied against him with the Floodplains tribe, although their Chieftains do not agree on some crucial matters. This winter, there is only snow, Goblins, magic, and iambic pentameter.

Get ready for a bit of magical girl acadamey dashed with time shenanagins and sprinkled with bit of mystery.
All wrapped up in Pantaloons and a hat.
Honestly I really enjoy Ravensdagger's work. This story is more in the wholesome range, rather than overly grewsome.
There is setup for character development.
some fun banter and some good world building (as always).
while I was annoyed that
**--spoiler-- she doesnt get to talk to her dad and doesn't make much of an attempt to (like heck she has online video call classes but can't videocall her dad) and am also frustraighted with the ending of the book--------**
I overall can't complain.

This story was really enjoyable and really well done with the voice acting!
There isnt really any fighting but its good to get away from that for a bit.
Lady's voice lines were a bit too quiet at times making it jarring next to the other characters and I would have to go back several times to replay the parts to understand her.
I would love to hear more from this universe but i belive this was a oneshot. either way this was an even better read than I was expecting and I think i will be adding it to my favourites.

Story
In an impoverished border town with a population dwindling as fast as hope, Gwen Tailor aims to change things. She is a daughter of the Seamstress class, drawing on the bloodline skills of her mother, who stitches with a speed that veers into the realm of magic. An awesome feat. But armed with a giant piercing needle, Gwen is more than a seamstress. To save her people from extinction and create a pattern all her own for survival, she must be a monster slayer. In the core of the town is the dungeon, a deep-pitted breeding ground. Gwen is going where the monsters dwell.

absolutely wonderful. the story is engageing and enjoyable.
The greater world building is vague but it really focuses on solidifying how the dungeon system works and setting up the characters for further adventure. This works well with the story.
The book is more story focused than stat focused.
It is an isekai but sadly that felt like it is only used as a crutch to help the author explain away the "weird" sayings the MC occasionally uses and how she knows what a bus is for size references. (i hope this is just here for setup in later books)
one thing that is unrelated to this book however is the cover art and that really annoyed me. I spent the whole book thinking there would be a cool griffin fight and she would actually get armour but alas, no griffin fight.

Hello Diary,

This is an interesting take on a litrpg. The entire thing is written as diary entries and I found it very fun as it is different. The MC gets distracted by marble races and the things she finds interesting but that is 100% on theme for both her character and it being her diary.
there is barely any mention of stat growth in numbers BUT i think the amount and frequency thoughout the book is within the acceptable range.
I normally find slice of life boreing so i was worried at first, this however had enough interesting things and adventure going on while skipping over the more boreing parts.
Its a bit hard to tell the other catgirls personalitys apart but i think thats partly from me being bad with names and it all being in first person.
This was a good listen, the VA did a fantastic job, the Authour left some interesting story hooks ready to explore, and ohh how I am interested in exploreing the next book!
Goodnight dungeon!

damn the paceing on this sucked!!
**spoiler warning**
After listening to the first 3 hours I almost gave up completely, and I am not one to give up.
Post waking up in the new world it got extreemly hard to listen to. But after reading other reviews I decided to skip forward from chapter 13 to 23 and it saved it for me. This is the part where she makes human contact again. I do not feel like I missed anything that was important and anything that i did miss got mentioned multiple times again as she re-tells her time alone to the friends she makes.
The first half of this book was one of those situations where a lot of numbers are thrown at you; fun in a physical book but it translates badly to an audio book. Because of this the story really got lost and bogged down in the time where the MC is alone.
When there were other people around the numbers got replaced with meaningful dialogue and it the writing style really shone through as more of a balance was struck. Hopefully the rest of the series continues in the fashion of the latter half. Maybe one day I will go back for 13 to 23 to sate my curiosity
but not today.
This seems to be a slow burn leveling system. the first book is very much focused on undergoing trials as they slowly build their stats. Im interested to see where their leveling takes them and how the story progresses. I also have a theory on their chi style and would love to prove or disprove it.

the narrators are excellent
the story is good
a bit flat with a few of the characters but the rest shine from the start.
the system messages and stats aren't overbearing and the story is just enough to keep you wanting more.
there is way too much of a focus on boobs but thankfully that is only in this first book.
