Story
What is at the core of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? What does justice demand of us in this conflict? This audiobook clarifies an intimidatingly complex issue - and upends conventional views about America’s stake in it. In this audiobook, Elan Journo explains the essential nature of the conflict and what has fueled it for so long. What justice demands, he shows, is that we evaluate both adversaries - and America's approach to the conflict - according to a universal moral ideal: individual liberty.

Story
Gerrardsville, Colorado. One tragic event. Two witnesses. Two conflicting accounts. One witness sees a woman throw herself in front of a bus—clearly suicide. The other witness is Jack Reacher. And he sees what really happened—a man in grey hoodie and jeans, swift and silent as a shadow, pushed the victim to her death, before grabbing her bag and sauntering away. Reacher follows the killer on foot, not knowing that this was no random act of violence. It is part of something much bigger.

Jeff Harding is brilliant as always, by the story had weak elements and the writing style isn’t quite as good - doesn’t flow as well as it did in previous books.

Story
In The War on the West, international best-selling author Douglas Murray asks: if the history of humankind is a history of slavery, conquest, prejudice, genocide and exploitation, why are only Western nations taking the blame for it? It’s become, he explains, perfectly acceptable to celebrate the contributions of non-Western cultures, but discussing their flaws and crimes is called hate speech. What’s more it has become acceptable to discuss the flaws and crimes of Western culture, but celebrating their contributions is also called hate speech.

The Perfect Response
Reviewed: 23-06-2022
The World needs more love, less hate. In this response to the war on the West, Douglas Murray, sometimes dripping with absolutely appropriate sarcasm, lays out an alternative to the divisiveness of the anti-West narrative. This is a story for those who’s default position is to love or at least accept all people. It should, therefore, be a story for all of us!

Factfulness: The stress-reducing habit of carrying only opinions for which you have strong supporting facts. When asked simple questions about global trends - why the world's population is increasing; how many young women go to school; how many of us live in poverty - we systematically get the answers wrong. So wrong that a chimpanzee choosing answers at random will consistently outguess journalists, Nobel laureates, and investment bankers.

Breathtaking, brilliant and passionate, these essays, journalism, lectures and letters make an unanswerable case for the wonder of scientific discovery and its power to stir the imagination; for the practical necessity of scientific endeavour to society; and for the importance of the scientific way of thinking – particularly in today’s ‘post-truth’ world.

Richard Dawkins most definitely embodies the soul of science, but I’d go further and suggest he fully embodies the soul of humanity, of being human. What a wonderful mind - this book reads like a greatest hits of that mind.

In Stephen King's mesmerizing new masterpiece - his biggest, most riveting novel since The Stand - a Maine town and its inhabitants are isolated from the world by an invisible, impenetrable dome. Celebrated storyteller Stephen King returns to his roots in this tour de force featuring more than 100 characters - some heroic, some diabolical - and a supernatural element as baffling and chilling as any he's ever conjured.

I don't know what the equivalent of a page turner is in an audio book, but whatever it is, this has it! And if all the audio books I've listened to, this has to be the best performance by a narrator. So many characters and yet Raul managed to make each unique enough so each could be identified by their voice. Loved it!

Great new take on an old story!
Reviewed: 07-11-2016
There really are a lot of great insights in this story of us - ways of combining things I already knew to generate ideas I didn't. The only quibble I had was a claim that science has nothing to say about what ought to be - morals or ethics. It's inconceivable to me that the scientific process that has generated so much understanding till now has no way of contributing to our understanding of the Moral Landscape (thanks Sam Harris).
