Story
There are few characters in literature more iconic than J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan, the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up. Originally introduced in 1902 in another Barrie novel (The Little White Bird), Peter's story was expanded as a standalone novel in 1911 and since then has been memorably adapted for the movies, for television, and for stage.
Now, actress Lily Collins (The Blind Side, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) brings new, youthful energy to Peter's magical adventures.

Beautiful narration

Beautiful narration of a classic, though of course there are elements in the story itself that are no longer acceptable (thankfully). Still, this is the perfect way to hear the original story if you are required to or otherwise inclined.

Uneven audio, unsubstantiated content
Reviewed: 08-03-2019
Started out strong but devolved into an explanation of personal worldview that showed painfully obvious lack of insight/research into many of the topics covered.
Audio dipped as though the speaker was at different distances from the microphone and this was not corrected in post.
Points for ambition, at least.

Story
Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

A Wonderful Rendition
Reviewed: 05-01-2019
The changes in accents were a pleasant surprise, they made a vast difference, especially in such a narrative style as Shelley’s. Shelley is a master of words amd Stevens’ performance does those words justice.

Even Better the Second Time
Reviewed: 05-07-2018
I doubt I would have taken the time to reread the whole series were they not in audio form, and narrated by one of my favourite voices, or at least I am sure I would not have enjoyed revisiting them quite so much. Even as a fan of the books and the movies, there is just something extra in these audible versions that makes them the most magical way for me to experience the world within.
I found I enjoyed this book more being older and better equipped to understand the milestones and miscalculations of political conflict. Of course, I understood what was going on as a child, when I read it the first time, but back then I was more focused on accepting the invited reading and simply grieving my favourite marauder, whereas now my opinions of almost every character have changed.
Stephen Fry's narration is wonderful, as always.
