This novella felt like a full length novel. The interest in the characters was immediate and the circumstances were so relatable that emotional reactions flowed quickly. Abby Jimenez continues to be a superlative storyteller.

I don’t give 5 stars lightly and this book deserved every one. Andi Arnt is a favourite narrator, so when a favourite author and a favourite narrator teamed up, I had high expectations. This book exceeded them. It’s pacing is excellent, the character growth is satisfying, the extras are entertaining and I really was intrigued to find out how everything would come together. I’ll be listening to this again.

The stand in is a doppleganger story, which isn't usually something I'm drawn to, as many of them have lots of uncomfortably artificial aspects just to make the story move along. The Stand-In was an exception to this. The characters were so appealing, and there were little gems scattered throughout the book that kept me involved and intrigued, and genuinely interested in their well-being. The narration allowed me to get deeply involved in the story without any distractions. I have re-listened since my first experience of the book, and I'm looking forward to Ms Chu's next release.

As heart wrenching as Abby Jimenez readers have come to expect, but also with the touches of joy and humour that make her books such a well-rounded experience.
I enjoyed this book in its Audible version, and the narrators were familiar to me and contributed to my enjoyment.
Thoroughly recommended.

I should have known that I could expect the unexpected from this author, but once again, I've been taken by surprise by the rollercoaster of this book. My first experience of Bengtsson was the first of her Cake series, which I had expected to be a light and fluffy rockstar romance, and found instead an emotionally challenging, 3 course meal of satisfying and addictive saga. " Ripple Effect" is the second of a spin-off series from that initial book series. The first of the Any Day Now series is "Like the Wind". "Ripple Effect could be read as a standalone, but my suggestion is that if you have found this book first, then go back and give yourself the benefit of enjoying "Like the Wind" and then every single other one of Bengtsson's books.

This book starts off with the familiar comfort of a well established trope - warring neighbours who obviously have very mixed feelings about each other. Dani and 'Chad' leave each other hostile notes and take up entirely too much mental real estate for each other, and everyone knows what THAT leads to, right? Wrong. What happens in this book comes entirely out of left field and I was entirely shaken, absorbed and on the edge of my seat, forcing myself to not read ahead. "Its a romance," I told myself. "Romances guarantee a HEA!" I told myself. But Bengtsson writes so well that I was thoroughly invested in the characters' situation, and this set up the tension I usually reserve for thrillers and murder mysteries (where I unashamedly do read ahead).

I loved this book and will read it again as I can now do so with less anxious anticipation for characters' welfare, and this will give me a chance to more fully appreciate the delightful quirkiness of the ancillary characters that contribute to the joy of Bengtsson's books.
