I loved this story as much as his previous works. I know must find a hard copy to view the illustrations! Sadly the narrator was not prepped sufficiently in the pronunciations of Brisbane place and street names or even straightforward English usage. For a person whose life developed in this city it was disappointing to hear jarring inaccuracies. It’s rare to note this in audible recordings - thankfully the story superseded the narrative errors.

Seemed to be an unending loop of incomprehensible gibberish. And shortlisted for the Booker Prize…

A beautiful story - a Bildungsroman - uplifting and recognisable. A text worthy of applause and study.

A most unusual and entertaining story. Finished it in two days. The narrator is excellent. Loved it!!

This is probably important for young gay men but it is meant to be a story not just a series of vague descriptions and suppositions.

This is such a poignant read. So beautifully produced and it is a reminder that listening to rather than only visually reading a text can be so enriching. I highly recommend this novel. Ann Patchett at her introspectively best.

Unfortunately this novel did not live up To Kill a Mockingbird: maybe she needed Truman?

Would you consider the audio edition of Nutshell to be better than the print version?

Yes - enacted by excellent performer.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Nutshell?

The closing scene.

Which character – as performed by Rory Kinnear – was your favourite?

The unborn child. First peron narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not really becuase there were so many motfis and allusions to Hamlet that I needed to reflect on.

Any additional comments?

Very clever.
