Random House presents the audiobook edition of Tamed, written and read by Alice Roberts. The extraordinary story of the species that became our allies. For hundreds of thousands of years, our ancestors depended on wild plants and animals for survival. They were hunter-gatherers, consummate foraging experts, taking the world as they found it. Enjoyable, entertaining and easy to finish although I would rank this as being one of the worst / weakest in the Alex Rider series in both story and narration

Strike has never tackled a cold case before, let alone one 40 years old. But despite the slim chance of success, he is intrigued and takes it on; adding to the long list of cases that he and his partner in the agency, Robin Ellacott, are currently working on.

Favourite new fiction of 2020

Normally I find many series start strong but decline or lose momentum as they progress. J K rowlling is one of the rare exceptions where each instalment consistently strengthens and gets more enjoyable. Before troubled blood, Lethal white was a clear favourite but troubled blood is giving it a good run for its money. Her ability to create real, unique, human characters along with humour and flaws is unparalleled.
Robert Glenister did a fantastic job and I really hope he continues to narrate CS books.
I will be giving this a 2nd or 3rd or more relistens no doubt.
What a masterpiece

Story
Innovation is the main event of the modern age, the reason we experience both dramatic improvements in our living standards and unsettling changes in our society. It is innovation that will shape the 21st century. Yet innovation remains a mysterious process, poorly understood by policy makers and businessmen alike. Matt Ridley argues that we need to see innovation as an incremental, bottom-up, fortuitous process that happens as a direct result of the human habit of exchange, rather than an orderly, top-down process developing according to a plan.

I’m a big fan of Matt Ridley’s books. I loved the Red Queen and The Rational Optimist is one of my all time favourites. This new audiobook from him is the best audiobook I’ve listened to in 2020. Narration is perfect. Its never dry and is always thought provoking and engaging. If you enjoyed Factfulness by Hans Rosling you will also enjoy this.

Quick and easy listen. Narration was excellent. Story started out well and conceptually is great, 100% plot driven but really loses it as the story progresses. Good enough to finish but lacks depth and could have fleshed things out more.

Exactly what I was looking for. an extraordinarily balanced discussion of different energy types and generations. The lecturer has excellent narration and is clearly spoken. The course was interesting and engaging the whole time. my biggest criticism is that it was made in 2016 and this field is moving very fast so some things discussed are already feeling dated. An updated or new lecture series would be highly appreciated!

Highly enjoyable, engaging and easy listening. Brusatte does a great job bringing the many characters both extinct and present to life. narration was good and never impeded the story. I liked how the auther brought himself into the story talking about his mentors, colleagues and expeditions he went on giving it a more personal flavour. Strongly recommend.

This being the 4th Cormoran Strike book I've listened to its easy to pick this one as my favourite, by far the most interesting from early on and in my opinion an order of magnitude better tban those before Rowling is really mastering this style / genre. As always narrator is fantastic and adds a lot to the story and enjoyment. Highly recommended.

Having almost finished the KingsBridge trilogy It is more obvious how much I prefer Pillars over its later installments. Prior Phillip remains one of my favourite literary characters. Overall Pillars feels much more original and suffers less from many of the negatives I started to notice about the authors later works. I would highly highly recommend Pillars it keeps a great pace throughout and is never boring which is quite some achievement considering its length. Narration by John Lee is absolutely superb
