I am so sorry but I'm only up to Chapter 5 and I cannot listen to this narrator. I've listened to a few different ones, but this one is so unprofessional, hard to understand due to lisp perhaps and has no emotion. I love Julia Quinn books so must say, I am a little disappointed 😞

Story
The best-selling revisionist biography of one of the great women of the 16th century. Orphaned in infancy, Catherine de Medici was the sole legitimate heiress to the Medici family fortune. Married at 14 to the future Henri II of France, she was constantly humiliated by his influential mistress, Diane de Poitiers. When her husband died as a result of a duelling accident in Paris, Catherine was made queen regent during the short reign of her eldest son (married to Mary Queen of Scots, and like many of her children he died young).

I struggled with this book, often skipping ahead. I thought the narrator drone like and the quoting of date after date confusing. Too many French quotes without translation were daunting. Overall, a boring book (only in my opinion) for what is surely a fascinating subject.

Story
Mary Tudor watches her elder brother become King of England and wonders what the future holds for her. Born into great privilege, Mary has beauty and intelligence beyond her years and is the most marriageable princess in Europe. Henry plans to use her marriage to build a powerful alliance against his enemies. Will she dare risk his anger by marrying for love? Meticulously researched and based on actual events, this 'sequel' follows Mary's story from book three of the Tudor Trilogy and is set during the reign of King Henry VIII.
