Wow, this has some great reviews and the synopsis really got me interested... It started out great, I thought i was in for a great story, then its started to slow down and I thought maybe its just a quiet part of the book then it really came to halt and turned into a full blown cringey romance, with mostly unlikeable characters. Dont get me wrong I don't mind romance in a story , my last listen was "All the colours of the dark" which I would consider has elements of romance. But Mind Games is a full blown romance, dont let the synopsis fool you in thinking its something else. I have an hour left and I cant bring myself to finish this, I really dont like this book. The narrator does a good job switching between the various voices .
This could have been a great dark Thriller where Thea uses her gift in solving crimes, throw in Riggs as a nemesis taking control of killers ( or something) First and last Nora Roberts for me.

Story
This forest isn't charted on any map. Every car breaks down at its treeline. Mina's is no different. Left stranded, she is forced into the dark woodland only to find a woman shouting, urging Mina to run to a concrete bunker. As the door slams behind her, the building is besieged by screams. Mina finds herself in a room with a wall of glass, and an electric light that activates at nightfall, when the watchers come above ground. These creatures emerge to observe their captive humans and terrible things happen to anyone who doesn't reach the bunker in time.

I liked it, but didn't love it

The first 30% really got me interested, then it kind of dragged... I love some good descriptive writing, but there is such a thing as too much detail and this is what dragged this book down. Too much not relevant detail made me start to lose focus. Apart from that,I thought it was pretty decent I enjoyed most of the story I liked the ending and I thought the narrator was pretty decent too. Would I recommend it?... Maybe, it's a bit different which can be a good thing.

Not bad , definitely not great... Drawn out and a little boring didn't help to have unlikeable characters which made it harder to enjoy. Decisions that I couldn't relate to hence why this book and I didn't click. Narrator was good. Some twists were good some were predictable. I couldn't recommend this book.

With all his memories intact. If he applies those memories, he can be rich - he can have anything he wants - in this new chance at life. Until he dies at 43 and wakes up in his 18-year-old body again...and again in a continuous 25-year cycle, each time starting from scratch at the age of 18 to reclaim lost loves, make a fortune or remedy past mistakes.

overall I quite enjoyed this story, held together well, hooks you in and keeps you interested. The pay off is where it fell a little bit otherwise I'd recommend it to someone who enjoys a decent thriller/twisty story. Well done on the narrator's effort.

Story
Since time immemorial, humans have worshipped the gods they call Fhrey, truly a race apart: invincible in battle, masters of magic, and seemingly immortal. But when a god falls to a human blade, the balance of power between humans and those they thought were gods changes forever. Now only a few stand between humankind and annihilation: Raithe, reluctant to embrace his destiny as the God Killer; Suri, a young seer burdened by signs of impending doom; and Persephone, who must overcome personal tragedy to lead her people. The Age of Myth is over. The time of rebellion has begun.

Narrator Tim is phenomenal. The story is very interesting, a little slow but it needs to be too be able to build the world, the lore and the characters. I've just started the second and will see how that goes but so far I'm enjoying this series

Not for me

This has good reviews so obviously plenty of people have enjoyed this, this is also the hard work of Freida and Leslie so I will not be too harsh.
I found Leslie's voice reminded of what an erotica narrator would sound like, it seemed like she was whispering and trying to be sultry the whole way though which I found very off putting.
I get the "twists" but overall it just wasn't well done ( in my opinion) why bother having inner dialogue for the main character and then we find out what we find out? I did not enjoy this book or the narrator.
