Story
The first rule of nuclear war is that there are no rules. Up to now, no one outside of official circles has known exactly what would happen if a rogue state launched a nuclear missile at the Pentagon. Second by second and minute by minute, these are the real-life protocols that choreograph the end of civilisation as we know it. Because the plans for General Nuclear War are among the most classified secrets held by the United States government, this book takes the listener up to the razor’s edge of what can legally be known.

Story
Thirty-three-year-old Abby Stern has made it to a happy place. True, she still has gig jobs instead of a career, and the apartment where she’s lived since college still looks like she’s just moved in. But she’s got good friends, her bike, and her bicycling club in Philadelphia. She’s at peace with her plus-size body—at least, most of the time—and she’s on track to marry Mark Medoff, her childhood sweetheart, a man she met at the weight-loss camp that her perpetually dieting mother forced her to attend.

I really like the series of these books but after 5 hours and having the speed on 1.2x I could not go on. What on earth were the producers thinking letting the author narrate in such a disjointed, over the top fashion? Completely wrecked what I am sure is a very informative book. How was this missed?!

Story
No matter what was happening in Jennifer Weiner's life - whether good, bad, or very, very ugly - her mother, Fran, would say the same thing: It's all material. Now the number-one New York Times best-selling author and "one of the biggest names in popular fiction" ( USA Today), beloved on Twitter and hailed as "an unlikely feminist enforcer" ( The New Yorker), takes the raw stuff of her personal life and spins it into a collection of personal essays as uproariously funny and heartfelt as the best of Tina Fey and Nora Ephron.

I have read Weiner’s books multiple times and loved learned where her characters came from and her loafers. An honest and lovely individual. I almost gave up after the first hour but glad I pushed on. I skipped a small part about tweeting but overall enjoyed her honest and raw life recollections

I am a huge fan of Jennifer Weiner and have listened to every single one of her books. I so wanted to like this but I absolutely hated it. Performance was great though. Story was sooo boring and not at all interesting. Character development, dialogue and other characters were flat. Only reason I pursued was I couldn’t return it. So disappointing.

I really wanted to like this book
Reviewed: 14-06-2023
I really wanted to like this book, it’s sort of reminded me of a combination of best friends by Jennifer Weiner, and the book/movie features. I can’t help, but feel as though the dialogue was a little bit shallow, and very predictable. I didn’t feel like this was a very rich text, although it was easy to listen to and fairly enjoyable.
