Story
I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out...and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: The Winchesters don’t know who I really am. They don’t know what I’m capable of....

Book 3 is a letdown
Reviewed: 18-10-2024
Banal storyline very predictable and such a different standard to book 1. Character development is poorly done as Millie seems annoying and judgemental. Basic mundane activities are dramatised in effort to build suspense. Disappointed in Book 3

Disappointing- ridiculous ending
Reviewed: 18-10-2024
Story begins well then as it progresses becomes repetitive &drawn out. While reader is asked to suspend belief, the ending is ridiculous and lazy . She has written better books so I expected more.

Story
Multi-award-winning Hannah Gadsby broke comedy with their show Nanette. Now they take us through the defining moments in their life and their powerful decision to tell the truth—no matter the cost. Harrowing and hilarious, Ten Steps to Nanette traces Gadsby’s growth as a queer person, to their ever-evolving relationship with comedy, and their struggle with late-in-life diagnoses of autism and ADHD, finally arriving at the backbone of Nanette: the renouncement of self-deprecation, the rejection of misogyny, and the moral significance of truth-telling.

Way too much focus on the minutia of early life-amusing and well written in places but fell well short as it became too tedious and painful to continue...I made ut half way through and stopped because this book is literally not that interesting - at all !!
Dont waste your time.

It is what it is,...a work of fiction set in Northern Territory so you do need to lean into the plot . I say this as some reviews said it wasnt realistic . The description of the Northern Territory & heat is on point & transports you there .We absolutely Loved it! Hooked from beginning, Fantasticly written and we listened while on a road & camping trip in Aus Outback. One of the best books I have come accross in a long time! The Narrator is the best I have ever heard . Clever writing & brilliant plot matched by Narrator's performance .

Tedious - more Snooze than a Thriller

Too repetitive and drawn out. Became very tedious and lost interest . Couldn't send it back to swap out for another book. I didn't enjoy the narration but that may be down to the overdone internal dialogue and weak writing .

Exclusive to Audible! Listen to a discussion between the author and the narrator of The Widow at the end of this recording. We've all seen him: the man - the monster - staring from the front page of every newspaper, accused of a terrible crime. But what about her: the woman who grips his arm on the courtroom stairs - the wife who stands by him? Jean Taylor's life was blissfully ordinary. Nice house, nice husband. Glen was all she'd ever wanted: her Prince Charming.

Great plot line, fantastic prose and investigation/insight into nuances of offenders of that ilk- Extremely well written account of investigation & naŕrations but end is too abrupt & disjointed- a missed opportunity to tie things together in realistic fashion. Sorry 😞

Story
A production company wants to make a movie about Isabel Fielding’s life, but Leah knows this is a huge mistake. When the actress cast to play Leah is found murdered, she’s proven right in the grisliest of ways. It seems like a straightforward case: the deadliest ever female serial killer escaped prison a few hours before the murder. But Leah’s son Tom is first on the scene and Seb, Leah’s boyfriend, isn’t convinced by Tom’s innocent act. Even Leah must admit she doesn’t really know her son after he disappeared for months without contact.

While the listner needed to suspend belief& lean into storylines, this end to Trilogy is disappointing. Too many side characters & no real character development. A waste of money/ slash audible credit which is a shame as I really like the author's style& stories & feel mean saying this. This one was Guilding the Lily but I look forward to future novels , It could have been better delivered as short story without the padding to try making it a novel.

Seven years ago, six-year-old Maisie Earnshaw was found facedown in a duck pond, her body mutilated. Isabel - at age 14, found covered in Maisie's blood - was convicted of murder. As Leah spends time with Isabel, she comes to know her as a young woman with a sweet, gentle nature, someone she could never see as a murderer.
