Chapter 1 should have been called "my thesis" she said it so many times! This is a book where the author just tells you what to think, do. Very disappointed.

I got to Chapter 20, & gave up in frustration. Every character is annoying, especially, Heather (the main character). A story about a woman who feels she didn't have it all; who was a professional doctor, a mother, married, nice home, safe town, good husband.... So she jets off to Greece, to be wild & free.
No Shirley Valentine, here.

I love a good Stephen King tale, and I really like the character of Holly. But... His politics came through too strong, and 3 years later, his trust in the vaccines seems nieve.
The story was great, no subterranean creatures, no otherworldly manifestations, just two psychos, who happen to be old college professors. It was well paced, until the end, which I became frustrated by, but I think Mr. King is almost trying his hand at mystery novels. aan ending that wasn't predictable would have been better.

I'm a sceptic of Dolores, but I do appreciate her work and effort. She did after all bring these topics to the mainstream. But I can't recommend this audiobook. It just didn't make sense, she herself admits that her colleague could infer if someone was imagining or if they were delusional but she wasn't so expert in this field. Her failure to ask broader questions, such as time & place but chase down minute details was very frustrating. I only got to Chapter 5, too broad and frustrating for me.

I'm an Aussie that lived in Manchester long ago, so listening to this book was like visiting a long, lost place. It took me a while to accept the narrator, I thought she'd be best for children's books. As the story progressed, I got used to her.
It's a good story, well paced and not predictable. I like the lead character & I'd buy more of these books.

This is not a feel good book. The author is brave & honest.
She talks about her depression, bi-polar and other issues. She talks of overcoming her desire to feel defeated by running.
Going through my own episode of depression, I found I just couldn't get past Chapter 20. It was too much, too hard & too sad. She does well, she built up her running stamina but as an audiobook, it's like listening to a friend complain for hours.

After a while I became immersed in the story, for once the length didn't bother me, I'd listen while I went for a walk.
He's a master, Mr. King and his creativity is inspiring. if you loved fairy tales as a kid, you'll appreciate this book.

This is an interesting book, but would be better to read yourself than listen to. Its filled with many stories about Patrul Rinpoche but it doesn't work as a listening experience. The chapters are small, and one story flows into the next. Not something I could listen to for any length of time.
