Reacher had no idea where he was
Reviewed: 13-11-2024
The opening line 'Reacher had no idea where he was' echo'd me listening to this book. A beginning which goes backward - lm not the biggest fan of those, and one of the main characters Flecther & then you have Reacher - 'bounces' a bit on the audio. Actually, the whole story seemed written in a way which creates an uncomfortable listening landscape. It might have been read altogether easier. I don't normally experience this with Childs books.

A little of kilter
Reviewed: 13-11-2024
A little off kilter - it is a Scarpetta book but one with less depth. The story is ok, bit strange but alright. I suppose the theme of 'you have the right to know this, when we decide you have the right' is too aligned to real life, and what l hear when listening to American politics. Now that someone has got in, goodness knows what will be reflected in the next book, l for one, will await the reviews. lol.

Continues the story nicely, wasn't sure at the start what direction the story was travelling but doesn't disappoint. Gave it 4 out of 5 as it could have been a tad more exciting but don't regret getting.

When a simple mix-up leaves their father Joe’s estate to Eden, their long-absent mother, Clare and Aaron decide it’s finally time to track Eden down. But it’s been over thirty years since she left their remote outback mining town, and they’ve never heard from her again. Aaron is dealing with a new marriage that’s currently trapped in immigration limbo, and his teenage daughter Cady is clearly going through a personal crisis of her own.

Reviewed: 05-06-2024
Purchased this because of its star rating. The story is set in a remote old gold mining town ( l myself happen to live in a place like the one mentioned) the small-town ethos is spot on, could have been developed a little more. The story is interesting and well-paced, A couple of little twists/turns. Great narration. Worthy of its rating.

Story
As the mists roll over the fens and enigmatic lights twinkle in the distance, only the locals know their way along the hidden paths through the mysterious watery terrain of one of England's most beautiful and sometimes dangerous places. Detective Matt Ballard may have retired but there's still plenty going on in the fens to keep him busy. Someone trashes an old lady's garden and daubs her isolated cottage with hateful graffiti. Emilia Swain seems to be totally harmless, so why is she being targeted?

I think if l had anxiety, l would have it more, reading this, felt like taking a prozac. Interesting storyline with a sort of twist in the latter half. Did well describing the frustration of dealing with someone who has mental health issues. Luckly l listened to this whist walking along a beach to balance the effect lol.
Good enough that l am churning through the whole series.

Story
An old friend's sister disappears without a trace. There's no sign of foul play, but she'd been acting very peculiarly. Meanwhile, Liz's cousin, Christie, comes to stay. She takes an immediate - and uncharacteristic - dislike to the local bookshop owner, Gina. Why does everyone put up with her awful behavior? Christie is convinced that Gina is manipulating everyone around her. Is she onto something dangerous or just pushing her new friends away? No one believes her suspicions until another friend goes missing late at night on the misty Fen marshes.

The end is
Reviewed: 23-05-2024
The end is a bit confusing. Well, the story ends and either it's an intro into another book, or just a double ending with a flip going back, no idea, but l stopped listening, when the end happened.
The story is good, Interesting enough at one point the narrator gets a bit annoying murdering a country accent but overall a pleasant enough book, with a decent ending. Until that is, whatever it is, starts up.
Will be listening to the next in the series.

Story
All Frances wants is a cure for her daughter, but that would take a miracle, and miracles aren't something Frances believes in anymore. Newly divorced from her pastor ex-husband and excommunicated from the church community she once worked within, she wrestles alone with the prognosis of her terminally ill child. Any suggestion of ‘divine intervention' is salt in the wound of her grief. So when Frances is forced to take in a homeless and pregnant teenage girl who claims to have had an immaculate conception, she's deeply challenged.
