Story
Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of best-selling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish. Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn't expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read.

It’s so awful
Reviewed: 09-12-2022
Unless you’re a Colleen Hoover fan already, save your time. Maybe it’s better in print but I found this story awful and the narrators quite stiff.

Story
When a paragraph in an evening newspaper reveals a decades-old tragedy, most readers barely give it a glance. But for three strangers, it's impossible to ignore. For one woman it's a reminder of the worst thing that ever happened to her. For another it's the dangerous possibility that her darkest secret is about to be discovered. And for a third, a journalist, it's the first clue in a hunt to uncover the truth. The Child's story will be told.

A bit too long but good
Reviewed: 03-11-2017
I do enjoy Fiona Barton’s writing but I find she drags the story out too much. 84 chapters!!
That said it’s a good story and the narration is fabulous.

Story
Adam Griffey is living two lives. By day, he teaches literature. At night, he steals it. Adam is a plagiarist, an expert reader with an eye for great works. He prowls simulated worlds perusing virtual texts, looking for the next big thing. And when he finds it, he memorizes it page by page, line by line, word for word. And then he brings it back to his world, the real world, and he sells it. But what happens when these virtual worlds begin to seem more real than his own? What happens when the people within them mean more to him than flesh and blood?

Worst. Narrator. Ever
Reviewed: 01-06-2016
Would you try another book written by Hugh Howey or narrated by Alexander J. Masters?
No. Alexander J. Masters made this almost impossible to listen to. I got 10 minutes in and gave up. The story could have been good but I'll never know
How could the performance have been better?
By using a different narrator.
Any additional comments?
Don't bother. It might be a good story but the narrator ruins it. It's impossible to get into.
