i think the thing that really stood out for me is the brutal honesty of the author. very interesting book if you're interested in Christianity from a cultural and mythological point of view, bit I really can't imagine any but the most morally elastic christians enjoying this book.

Ive been very fortunate lately to come across a number of books that really do make sense of the mess we are in. this is one of them. some books should be required reading.

Makes a fantastic case for the need for secularism. Not much else to say. There's nowhere nearly enough evidence to bring atheists back to religion. laws are gonna have to make more sense than "mu god said so".

Another book we should all read

Pretty insightful, and to be honest provides a more believable and fact based explanation for our troubling times than the conspiracies that are doing the rounds. It's interesting that there does seem to be these endless cycles, but it's easy to see how they occur and continue to occur when it's explained, as it is here. The only sad thing is that it seems like we are going to see some inevitable changes sooner than I'd have liked, but the book also offers hope that the inevitable imbalance can be solved by alternatives other than war and genocide. Fingers crossed I guess!
Bugger, I also forgot to mention that the book feels very balanced to me. I'm tired of the opinionated 'this is how you should think' and 'these are the bad guys' angles. We've hopefully all had enough of that nonsense by now.

As an atheist, I strongly recommend others read this book. it is very insightful as to how cultish Christianity CAN be. Every doubt, question or concern is to be immediately dismissed as the work of the Devil. Ignorance and arrogance are the key to avoiding the Satanic boogeyman.

Unfortunately, this book is extremely short sighted, however I believe that was its intent.
The book seems to be written for the group of people who believe they have everything figured out and can confidently blame racism and colonialism for all the woes of the world.

There is some good research, and some of it is insightful, but goodness me...
Please, I implore you, if you are going to read about Christian Nationalism and want to truly understand it, this book is but a tiny drop in a much bigger, and far more complex ocean.
This must not be the totality of your reading on the issue.

A left leaning, long time atheist who does NOT want a second term of MAGA.

I think it's super important that any prospective reader knows that this book was actually written by Jesus, using the earthly author as a medium.
It makes some pretty huge calls and 'adjustments' to the 'what's true' of the bible. Including authorising the use of the apocrypha books and throwing out a couple of others besides. Did you know Autism and Aspergers are signs of demonic possession, Mary was not supposed to be the mother of Jesus, but dark forces interfered, and other prophecies have been postponed/cancelled due to the meddling of the pointy headed one? All incredibly important information to any eager Christian one would imagine. It really just depends on how much you trust Ms Graham, a self described medium who claims to have a significant set of unverifiable skills for interacting with the unknowns of the universe, or whether you decide that she is just another 'prophet' misled by the dark forces. A danger Miss Graham warns us of herself. Or maybe, she's just nuts? Who knows? I suppose that's all part of the fun of belief in the supernatural.
On the other hand, if you'd like to see just how much one person can try to modify the canon of the Christian religion and still hope to be taken seriously, this book is well worth a read/listen.

it's a relatively brief summary of the craziness that is the bible, but it's a lot more fun and far less tedious.
Unfortunately it is no substitute for slogging through the bible yourself, even if only to realize that all the insanity described in this summary is indeed also found in the bible and usually way worse.

it's hard to imagine how anyone can take the bible seriously after having read this book. People do, but can they please stop suggesting that they have access to some kind of objective truth or special insight into the world, and that it is only that i love sin too much to accept god into my life. I've got plenty of great reasons. this book is one of them.
