Too short. I could listen to her for hours and hours. Loved her recount of meeting Jennifer Saunders and the development of ‘Patsy’.

I really enjoyed the voice of the narrator and the story was quite gripping (not deep and intricate) and all very neatly tied up. It was what I’d call ‘easy listening’.

Great information to improve your running

The author/narrator has a wonderful and infectious enthusiasm for the information he provides in his book. I learned so much from his ‘triphasic’ approach to training that makes total sense. Much of his approach is research based and he debunks many myths in the running community. Access to online content is available as well. I’ve listened to the book several times and always pick up something new to work on.

Good story line with some character development throughout the 3 books

Overuse of the conjunction word ‘as’ was very irritating. The narrator reminded me of ‘Dick Tracey’ for those who can remember that far back. Some of the characters voices were harsh.

Story
The story opens with the apparently accidental drowning of a sixth form student in the Norfolk countryside. As a matter of routine, or so it seems, the case passes across the desk of Detective Sergeant Smith, recently returned to work after an internal investigation into another case that has led to tensions between officers at Kings Lake police headquarters. As an ex-DCI, Smith could have retired by now, and it is clear that some of his superiors wish that he would do so.

Just starting my second time around this series. I love the characters, especially DC of course. This time I appreciated even more the character development of DC and Chris Waters and the insight into DC, his sense of humour and his love of music. The narrator, Gildart Jackson is excellent.

Story
Jo told him the phone call had been about a woman who wanted to have her husband declared dead. Smith thought for a moment and then said, 'Hmm. There must be a few million women in this country who feel like that. I take it her husband's been missing for a while and she's decided it's time to move on. In the absence of a body, which is always a nuisance, she wants Diver and Diver to confirm there's no proof he's alive. And I've told Jason a dozen times I'm not getting involved in anything matrimonial. I have enough trouble sorting out my own relationships.'

Loved this audiobook as much as all the others I have listened to by Peter Granger. The characters are all so real and the narrator is excellent. Peter Granger is a master storyteller with imagination and he has developed his characters with empathy. One of my favourite authors.

When Matt Ballard was starting out his career, three boys were murdered in the same area, the remote and bleak Gibbet Fen. When the main suspect was killed in a hit-and-run, the killings stopped. But Matt was not satisfied that the real murderer had been caught. Over 25 years later, Matt gets a photo in an unmarked envelope. It's of the Gibbet Fen crime scene. And the picture was taken before the murder took place. More photos arrive, relating to the historic murders, as well as intimate pictures of Matt's very secret private life.
