Believable Until the End
Reviewed: 27-08-2020
Having witnessed how easily the family court system be used by a wealthy convert narcissist, this book resonated too close to the bone. This institution can, and often is, used as a weapon of abuse by such perpetrators. The book only became less believable toward the end which was a shame. Still it was a page turner, very entertaining.

Story
Low Morrison is not your average teen. You could blame her hippie parents or her looming height or her dreary, isolated hometown on an island in the Pacific Northwest. But whatever the reason, Low just doesn’t fit in - and neither does Freya, a once-famous social media influencer who now owns the pottery studio in town. After signing up for a class, Low quickly falls under Freya’s spell. And Freya, buoyed by Low’s adoration, is compelled to share her darkest secrets and deepest desires. Finally, both feel a sense of belonging...that is, until Jamie walks through the studio door.

I lived the story primarily about narcissism and how they can overpower people. The narration was a little tedious at times as was the script, but overall a gripping storyline.

This is the whole story, right from the beginning: the sun-bleached streets, the grimy bars on the Sunset Strip, knowing Daisy’s moment was coming. Relive the euphoria of success and experience the terror that nothing will ever be as good again. Take the uppers so you can keep on believing, take the downers so you can sleep, eventually. Wonder who you are without the drugs or the music or the fans or the family that prop you up. Make decisions that will forever feel tough. Find beauty where you least expect it.
