Great book series I was sad when it ended.
The characters were believable and the narrator was wonderful. Diverse viewpoints of a potential disaster.

The overall idea is very interesting however, the characters are a little too much. There is more thinking and pondering than could possibly be done during some of the high action sequences. At other times parts of the story seem skipped ahead without proper explanation. I’m not sure I believe how separated one section of the ship becomes. Cruise ships have so many routes that lead to each section. I didn’t enjoy it enough to buy the next in the series.

Story
Eco-terrorists unleash the worst attack the world has ever seen. Over 25,000 autonomous combat drones are released in Manhattan. Hundreds of thousands are dead, and the entire island is evacuated and quarantined in just a few days' time. Ten years later, Manhattan is still empty of humans, with the exception of the salvage specialists of the most watched reality show in history: Zone War. Produced live and unedited, the show follows five teams of armored vehicle specialists who brave the active drones to recover lost riches and collect bounties on dead ones.

I actively wanted to keep listening and chose this over other audiobooks and podcasts. It kept me engaged.

I enjoyed the character and it was nice to listen to a post apocalyptic book that wasn’t all doom and gloom.

A little too much about “bad people” and guns for my liking but an interesting premise for an end of the world story. The fact that this only covers the first day of the disaster frustrates me as I feel the author is just trying to break one book up into 3 to sell more instead of completing the story.

The main character in this book comes off as a pompous ass and the pace of the book is far too slow. Is there a way to get my money back....?
