I liked the clear and natural way that Gareth told the story of his life and demystified the awakening process. What's more he does this in an entertaining way. It shows that the ultimate state's are not out of reach for anyone with tenacity and determination, and is prepared to back it up through assisting others though the modern technologies .

Story
Arto has a problem. For one, he's a robot. He’s awoken with no memory of who he is, with nothing but a mysterious letter, in a world bereft of those fleshy, talky things that made him. So why is he alone, and where have all the people gone? He stumbles upon a lost, cheeky kitten and selects it as his best friend for the adventure of a lifetime, trying to make sense of all this existence stuff. Just as Arto begins to fear he's the only sentient thing left on the whole planet, a cantankerous robot falls from the sky. She says she's his sister.

A really fresh Australian story.
Reviewed: 20-05-2024
The story was vividly imagined, fresh and bright. It captured easily the Australian context, animals and plants, the particular Australian light. Characters were Australian and quite genuine to the context. it was entertaining. I particularly enjoyed the performance of the various voices. Deeper issues underlying AI, robotics and sentience were delt with in an unobtrusive way. The created world has much potential for a sequel or a series of short stories. The main character is cute and endearing. Would appeal to a ya. audience, but issues go far beyond. I have already shared with those in my family who would enjoy.

George Galen is a brilliant scientist, a pioneer in gene therapy. But Galen is dangerously insane. He has created a method to alter human DNA, not just to heal diseases, but also to "improve" people - make them stronger, make them able to heal more quickly...and make them compliant to his will.

All his life, there was no mistake that a little side-stepping couldn’t fix. Until Laz wakes up one day in a cloning facility on a seemingly abandoned Earth. Laz finds himself surrounded by hundreds of other clones, all dead, and quickly realizes that he too must be a clone of his original self.

In a world full to bursting with would-be heroes, Jim couldn't be less interested in saving the day. His fireballs fizzle. He's awfully grumpy. Plus, he's been dead for about 60 years. When a renegade necromancer wrenches him from eternal slumber and into a world gone terribly, bizarrely wrong, all Jim wants is to find a way to die properly, once and for all. On his side, he's got a few shambling corpses, an inept thief, and a powerful death wish. But he's up against tough odds....

Girt. No word could better capture the essence of Australia.... In this hilarious history, David Hunt reveals the truth of Australia's past, from megafauna to Macquarie - the cock-ups and curiosities, the forgotten eccentrics and Eureka moments that have made us who we are. Girt introduces forgotten heroes like Mary McLoghlin, transported for the crime of "felony of sock", and Trim the cat, who beat a French monkey to become the first animal to circumnavigate Australia.

I enjoyed being read to more than I enjoyed reading the kindle version previously. It brought out the humour for me. On a serious note, demythologising history is the name of the game. We can't make any progress without realising what a mob of blundering fools we all are and have been and the humour entertains us and makes it bearable. A sterling effort old boy!

Story
Anita Moorjani had lymphoma, which had spread throughout her body, and her organs were beginning to shut down. As she slipped into a coma, doctors were resigned to the fact that she was in her last hours of life. Yet Anita experienced what has been termed a near-death experience (NDE), and within 24 hours of coming out of the coma, she had a newfound knowing about her own life. Subsequently, her body healed very rapidly, and within weeks doctors found no traces of cancer. This audiobook was inspired by what Anita experienced during her own journey to healing.

I'm naturally quite a tense person. Combining this and yoga nidra I'm able to take the edge of my tension. I like these meditations because you can relax early in the morning when the mind is clear. Although it is aimed to people with life threatening illness, it accent on self acceptance makes it universally applicable.
