I've only been playing golf for ~6 months, and I'm hopelessly addicted. I discovered this book after binging on The Sweet Spot podcast's entire back catalogue, trying to learn as much as I could. I promise you - this book is exactly what any player needs to improve. it didn't take me long to learn this game can break you without a strong mind. My first ever golf book was Zen Golf (brilliant), and this book has elements of that in there, only expounded upon, and with a more practical approach to individual components of your game. Along with Zen Golf, I'd now say this book is easily in my top 5 golf game improvement titles. I finished it, and immediately hit play again. You won't regret it. Thanks Jon!

A gripping history of banking and the booms and busts that shaped the world on both sides of the Atlantic, The House of Morgan traces the trajectory of the J. P.Morgan empire from its obscure beginnings in Victorian London to the crash of 1987. Ron Chernow paints a fascinating portrait of the private saga of the Morgans and the rarefied world of the American and British elite in which they moved. Based on extensive interviews and access to the family and business archives, The House of Morgan is an investigative masterpiece.

Story
In Made in America, Bryson de-mythologizes his native land, explaining how a dusty hamlet with neither woods nor holly became Hollywood, how the Wild West wasn't won, why Americans say 'lootenant' and 'Toosday', how Americans were eating junk food long before the word itself was cooked up, as well as exposing the true origins of the G-string, the original $64,000 question, and Dr Kellogg of cornflakes fame.

Pressed play largely due to it being Bill Bryson + it was free, without first really bothering to investigate the subject matter. I'm glad I did. Another thoroughly enjoyable Bryson title; a well-paced blend of knowledge and humour. A curiously engaging deep dive into speech, the origin of phrases we've commonly used for years and the unique contributions the American lexicon has made.

Story
One of the great mysteries of Australian life is that a land of sweeping plains, with one of the lowest population densities on the planet, has a shortage of land for houses. As a result, Sydney’s median house price is the second most expensive on Earth, after Hong Kong’s. The escalation in house prices is a pain that has altered Australian society; it has increased inequality and profoundly changed the relationship between generations – between those who have a house and those who don't. Alan Kohler tells the story of how we got into this mess – and how we might get out of it.

This was absolutely brilliant. Probably the most important and relevant thing I'll listen to all year. This should be mandatory listening for all Australians. Alan hits the nail(s) on the head repeatedly, whilst providing well-researched historical contexts to exactly how and why we got ourselves into this predicament. I am going to send this to everyone I know, to increase awareness of these concepts. Thank you Alan, sincerely - this was stellar in both content and delivery and is a service to your fellow Aussies.

Thoroughly informative and entertaining listen, from beginning to end. Great blend of humour, relevant facts and history wrapped up in a civilised and well-crafted, easy to digest tale. Enjoyed it so much I listened twice back-to-back, and will probably go back for a third. Even the narrator suits the vibe perfectly. The only downside - possibly kick-starting a hobby I'll now be forced to continue exploring for life. Damn!

Having only recently been introduced to Guy and his Aquamarine Fund from an interview with Brandon from the "New Money" YouTube channel, I was intrigued enough from the sample to investigate. Lots of great info about how Guy has personally travelled through his investment journey and shaped his personality to become happier and more successful. I really appreciated the intersection between emotions, personal success and wealth this book explores. Quite heavy on the well-worn Buffett references, but you expect that. I'd recommend this title overall, and will probably give it another listen through.

A fantastic listen, and one I’ll be referring back to again constantly.
It has confirmed my learnings that investing is a long-haul game, but in such elegantly simple phrasing I’ve not encountered elsewhere.
This book puts difficult concepts into marvellously concise wording and clearly explains the principles behind the acronyms you’re constantly Googling.
I’ve sunk hours into YouTube investing strategy videos, listened to countless podcasts, followed the word of Buffett..
I’d honestly go so far as to say - before you’ve invested any money in the markets - listen to this.
This has now taken my #1 spot for a financial guidance text.
I’m attempting to convince my friends to read this. Hell I’m even offering to buy it for them. What does that tell you?
This book has essentially given me the tools to rethink both investing as a whole and my strategy within it.
Kudos also to the author for keeping the content updated & relevant.
Congratulations also for being able to so effectively communicate deep financial concepts by text / voice alone. No charts or PDF’s needed to follow along here.

This book contains the words I’ve been struggling to find, towards solving the problems in my life and feelings of dissatisfaction I’ve been wrestling with. Wow. How had I not heard of this title before? I’ve gone through similar books searching for answers, but this one - wow - did this one ever speak to me. I’m going to immediately listen to this again. Recommend this book to anyone looking for positive change in their lives, but haven’t found what feels like the correct path for them yet. Listen to this now!! The narration by the author is beautiful, but does suit listening with full attention rather than in the background.

Many of us are starting to become tired of this game of life. We have been comparing and striving all our life. But no matter how much success we have achieved - we are still hollow and still have found nothing fulfilling. We don’t even know if happiness exists because it is no longer a living thing in our experience - it has become dead, as we only know it as a concept or memory. We have sought self-help advice, philosophies, and religious teachings to transform ourselves, but have not gotten anywhere.

Mind blown. Brilliant book with a refreshing take. I like that this book doesn’t attempt to teach the reader anything new - it attempts to help you understand what you already know. I’m going to need to re-listen to this so it all sinks in more. Had to pause a few times as it felt like I/my circumstances were being directly referenced. Highly recommended, if you’ve been working through these sorts of titles looking for answers.. but you haven’t quite found the right one yet. This one could be it.
