Story
Detective Chief Inspector Beth Fellows is thrown into the biggest case of her career: the brutal murder of Rose Danes. She quickly realizes Rose’s murder is linked to a cold case she investigated two years previously. The victim, 14-year-old Celine Wilson, survived but now languishes in a coma. Both girls were branded with the image of a raven. The only lead is a vague description and a first name, Simon.

At first I thought the other reviews sounded good but I don't know why they came to the conclusions that gave 5 stars.
I was left with a lot of questions. I can't actually put them in writing or it would spoil it for others.
The behaviour of a senior police officer left a lot to be desired. She spent a lot of time self analysing herself.
It would take a lot of imagination to be a senior police officer walk (run) into such dangerous situations.
I guessed the murderer early on.

Unusual to say the least.
Even though I had a pretty good idea of what was going to unfold, I still found it brilliant.
Even the Liverpool accent didn't put me off.

Story
A large country mansion. A locked room. A gruesome murder. Russian oligarch Alexander Volkov has invited 1,000 guests to a party at his palatial Surrey residence, Westgrave Hall. But while giving a private tour of the library, a gunman kills Volkov, wounding his ex-wife and slaying her new beau. Nothing makes sense to DCI Craig Gillard. In the blood-spattered crime scene there are no forensic traces of anyone else involved, CCTV shows no one entered or left the library, and everyone seems to have an alibi.

The story was good until the ending.
Very disappointed. Quite unbelievable.
I like a book with a surprise at the end but not like this one ended.
It was a shame as I enjoyed the drama and events that occurred previously.

Couldn't finish. Gave up at chapter 35. So much of this audio book is the same of The Wherryman.
Same arguments between Tanner and his boss. Same shouting and disagreement.
Same discussions between Tanner and Chris.
Similarity in multiple murders.
Same intrusion of the newspapers.
Sorry.

I've gone back to listening to Johnathan Keeble's brilliant narration of The Wherryman.
I was not disappointed.
Good story and I didn't want to stop listening.
My only problem was the delay in searching for the children or any mention of them. The end was a bit far fetched.

Now Sally is the centre of attention, not only from the hungry media and worried police, but also a sinister voice from a past she has no memory of. As she begins to discover the horrors of her childhood, recluse Sally steps into the world for the first time, making new friends, finding independence, and learning that people don't always mean what they say.

I wasn't keen on the idea that a fictional book should be written around such a major disaster involving the lives of students and teachers.
I was enticed by the the summary and reviews.
Ultimately I didn't get very far.
it may well be a brilliant book but I couldn't get my head around someone making money based on what must be one of the worst tragedy's of our time.
