Story
Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption II, set in 1911 and 1899, are the most-played American history video games since The Oregon Trail. Beloved by millions, they’ve been widely acclaimed for their realism and attention to detail. But how do they fare as re-creations of history? In this engaging audiobook, award-winning American history professor Tore Olsson takes up that question and more.

Astounding Bit Of Work
Reviewed: 14-10-24
I absolutely loved this work. I learned a lot from it, the good and bad. The lynching chapter was one of a few heartbreaking moments in the story but it showed how wild it was back then compared to today’s standards. I love the game ( In my top 3 of all time ) and I also love the character arc of the main character Arthur Morgan going from a bad outlaw to someone who finds his heart and morals. It’s also great it’s Roger Clark who also narrates this title.

Story
Nearly 20 years ago, on 11 September 2001, four passenger aircraft were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon near Washington and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 people were killed. The narrative in the weeks and months that followed seemed straightforward: the attacks had been masterminded by al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, an embittered terrorist with an abiding hatred of the West. But, as the 20-year anniversary approaches, that neat explanation still fails to answer some important questions surrounding that fateful day.

Misleading Title
Reviewed: 14-09-24
This is a great look at the events of 9/11. The title 9/11 The Conspiracy Theories is a bit misleading as I thought it’d be a book full of conspiracy theories and then rebuttal of the truth but in fact the book is full of the truth and very few conspiracy theories are in it.
The author does great work letting us the listener / reader know exactly what happened before that fateful day upto the days after it happened. It delves in to why the CIA and FBI failed to shared intelligence about the hijackers who were already in the USA living life and trying ( badly ) at learning to fly…two didn’t even want to know how to take off or land…how this never got reported to someone like the FBI is astonishing and may have thwarted the entire attack.
There’s so much more information within this title which I could go on and on about but I’d rather you the listener / reader found out about by themselves and learn the ( possible ) truth about the most famous terrorist attack in human history.
A shout out to the narrator too who does a fantastic job narrating the whole lot and not once messing up Saudi names or places. No funny accents either which was a bonus too.
If you want to learn more about 9/11 I’d highly recommend reading / listening to this book as you’ll be surprised at what went on that day and days after.
Two other books I’d highly recommend reading / listening to are Fall and Rise by Mitchell Zuckoff and The Only Plane In The Sky by Garrett Graff… seriously amazing work which delves into the victims and families plus the first responders of that horrific tragedy.

Story
'Are you happy in your life?' Those are the last words Jason Dessen hears before the masked abductor knocks him unconscious. Before he wakes to find himself strapped to a gurney, surrounded by strangers in hazmat suits. Before the man he's never met smiles down at him and says, 'Welcome back, my friend.' In this world he's woken up to, Jason's life is not the one he knows. His wife is not his wife. His son was never born. And Jason is not an ordinary college physics professor but a celebrated genius who has achieved something remarkable. Something impossible.

What A Tour
Reviewed: 29-06-24
I read the synopsis of this on the internet and decided to purchase it as I like the thought of a multiverse and how there’s infinite numbers of ourselves in different realities.
This book did not disappoint at all, from the moment the incident happens to Jason to the very last page was a whirlwind of greatness tied together perfectly.
The narration was equally satisfying and done the work greatly.
Highly recommend this if you wonder…are you happy with your life ?

I really enjoyed this follow up from the first one seeing how far Webb/Bourne has come and how he has to handle being both because of the main plot point. I read this first time once 14 years ago and got this a few years after just got round to reviewing it. Mr Brick does a great job narrating getting French names etc pronounced properly and accents were well done…now onto the finale of this long story plot. Shame book 4 isn’t available on Audible.

He was dragged from the sea, his body riddled with bullets. There are a few clues: a frame of microfilm surgically implanted beneath the skin of his hip; evidence that plastic surgery has altered his face; strange things he says in his delirium, which could be code words. And a number on the film negative that leads to a bank account in Zurich, four million dollars, and a name for the amnesiac: Jason Bourne. Now he is running for his life.

I loved this story after watching the movie years ago and listening to this a 4th time I still love the style of writing Ludlum did. The way characters interact is incredible. Obviously this story is better and first time I read it I was blown away..still do plus it leaves me wanting more which is a great thing. The narrator does an excellent job with accents and names perfectly and I’d listen to him again easily.
