Mispronouncing of Words

The hero’s name was Tyrell. Google it. The first syllable is always ty or ti, but the narrator said tie. Second syllable on google comes out as either rell or rel. so the name correctly pronounced would rhyme with squirrel. The constant error was upsetting. Get narrators to look up pronunciation when they are unsure.

Narrator’s cadences were often out of step with the text. Hesitations in odd places. Put me off listening.

Sex scenes went on too long, they get boring so i fast forward over them.
But an interesting take on the pimpernel story.

I jumped to this lesson as Iesson 1 was easy. This was the right place for me, much familiar, some challenging. I missed seeing text, but that made me listen harder.
I loved the man’s Scots accent, very clear. Struggled a little with the woman’s voice, that was where I missed seeing text.

The author usually gives a good story alas with too many Americanisms.
Alas the narrator speaks second language English. Accent is very important in regency stories, which are set in England.
The word enquiry occurs frequently in this reading, and each time my hackles rose. The reader pronounces the word ‘enquirrie’ whereas the British pronounce the word with the middle syllable spoken as the first person I.
Thus Enq-i-ry.

narrator has some sort of impediment that clashed with the author's cadence of words. narrator keeps raising her pitch unnecessarily, especially at the end of a sentence. this totally derailed my listening experience during narrative. I had to delve beneath the spoken words to discover what the story was about. shall avoid this narrator in future. author is good, shall read her on kindle.
having said that, the author did character voices very well and even managed a sexy rake. that kept me listening to the end, despite above comments.

the narrator was annoying. I kept trying to analyse what she was doing to upset me rather than focusing on the story. on second try I finished. but she took much getting used to. and ... sorry, but I found the story uninspiring. H&h wishy washy. not enough tension to rescue it.

Mary Jane Wells has always been down as a favourite narrator, but she falls down here. in her attempt to come over as a sexy American her voice drops so low that I miss most of what he says. A great disappointment this time, usually I hear her every word. of course this story, by a favourite author, suffered as a result.

as always, Ann Stuart's work is excellent. alas, same does not apply to the reader. not only was the accent totally wrong for an English story, but the husky, breathy male voices simply did not work, were incomprehensible. I was reading the digital in parallel, and needed to reread chunks they I had tried to listen to for clarification.
