Story
Shortly after 9.30 in the morning, a young man walks into Surf City, Bondi’s newest shopping complex. He’s wearing a dark grey hoodie - and a bomb around his neck. Just a few minutes later, he is locked in a shop on the upper floor. And trapped with him are four innocent bystanders. For police chaplain Paul Doherty, called to the scene by Senior Sergeant Boehm, it’s a story that will end as tragically as it began. For this is clearly no ordinary siege. The boy, known as Ali Khan, seems as frightened as his hostages and has yet to utter a single word.

Got bored

Just... boring. Wasn't invested in any of the characters and I was bored all the way through. Quite how I managed to get to the end I have no idea.

Had to stop listening...
Reviewed: 21-03-21
Just couldn't take any more of the narration to this book. Such a shame, as the story seemed it would be OK but I found the voice of the narrator to be unbearable! Awful narration which took away from the story for me. Had to give it up. Lesson learnt - always listen to a preview before purchasing an audiobook as its so important!

Story
When Cathy is told about Melody’s terrible childhood, she is sure she’s heard it all before. But it isn’t long before she feels there is more going on than she or the social services are aware of. Although Melody is angry at having to leave her mother, she also worries about her obsessively - far more than is usual. Amanda, Melody’s mother, is also angry and takes it out on Cathy at contact, which again is something Cathy has experienced before. When Amanda misses contact, it is assumed she has forgotten, but nothing could have been further from the truth.

Good story but found narration annoying
Reviewed: 13-03-21
It was an interesting listen, but to start with I nearly stopped listening as the narrative was very annoying. But, I did get drawn into the story, so completed the book. Overall, it was OK. The narration grated every time I started to listen so was a little off putting, but luckily the story piqued my interest, otherwise I'd have given up.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book!

I was sad to finish this book, it kept me keen throughout. I got completely drawn in from the very start, and my interest didn't fade once.
It's the best audible I've read since becoming addicted a few months ago to listening to books whilst walking my dogs every day!
Narration was great, and I was compelled to listen every chance I got. Would totally recommend this fab read.

Story
Rose Grahame had everything Alex D’Arcy dreams of. A handsome husband, a stunning home and a baby boy with twinkling blue eyes and a smile that would brighten the darkest of days. It’s a stark contrast to Alex’s life - her dead-end job, her borderline addiction to drink and pills, her failed engagement and her cluttered flat. But the women’s lives are about to collide - and nothing will ever be the same again.

Good story, narrative not great

I liked the story, that's what kept me going to the end ! I really struggled with the constant 'whisper' of the narration! It was annoying and often times lacked the correct emotions.
