Predictable
Reviewed: 11-05-24
Predictable storyline, no surprises honestly its very obvious from the start what the ending is. No real character progression. And the voice acting was a bit cringe worthy, horribly bad at doing different accents, ruined it for me.

I absolutely love this story. About 2/3 of the way through, I was really frustrated because I felt that the plot twist was going to be so obvious. Boy was I wrong! I would not have been able to predict that ending if I tried. And I tried.

Story
My little girl’s room is dark. Her bed is empty. I turn on her unicorn nightlight and bury my face in her pillow, my heart breaking. I know who did this. His name is Samuel Barlow. He has pale sallow skin and red-rimmed icy-blue eyes. But no one will listen. As darkness falls and rain lashes against the window, there’s a knock at my door and I open it to see those same eyes staring back at me. It’s his mother and she says she can help me find my daughter.

Good story, not blown away by the plot but it had some good twists and turns. Not totally believable but enjoyable for a free book.

Story
It was supposed to be fun. A relaxing trip to a remote mountain retreat where there’s no phone reception. Three couples, friends since high school, are looking forward to a weekend of drinking, reminiscing and flirting. When someone suggests swapping partners, it doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. The lights will be switched off, for privacy. It’s not really cheating if you don’t know who you were with, right? But when the lights come back on, one of the men is dead. No-one can agree who was in which bedroom with whom.

When a trip into the forest to collect a rare mushroom goes horribly wrong, I find myself falling through a fairy portal and straight into the arms of the Unseelie Fae prince. The dangerously unhinged and handsome Unseelie Fae prince. What could be more horrible than that? He thinks I'm an assassin sent by the humans to kill him, not a biologist. Determined to kill me first and rid himself of the human he has unwillingly grown obsessed with, yet also needing to entertain his people, the villain challenges me to three deadly trials.

Unbearable characters, Predictable plot twist which didnt even make sense, plot holes (what’s the point of a POV read if you’re going to reveal something at the end that was contradictory to how the MC was thinking all along) way darker than advertised, there really should be a TW for R.
Okay story telling but very slow to start off.
