Story
Back when restaurant menus were still printed on paper, and wearing a mask—or not—was a decision made mostly on Halloween, David Sedaris spent his time doing normal things. As Happy-Go-Lucky opens, he is learning to shoot guns with his sister, visiting muddy flea markets in Serbia, buying gummy worms to feed to ants, and telling his nonagenarian father wheelchair jokes. But then the pandemic hits, and like so many others, he's stuck in lockdown, unable to tour and read for audiences, the part of his work he loves most.

Found myself saying Ohh! when it finished always involving, very interesting. I feel I can learn from his attitude to life, considering his father's personality Sedaris remains a well balanced person. Perhaps he should write a book centalising the psychology of family life.

fabulous oration..the best I've heard ..wonderful compilation..thoroughly enjoyed..I spent 10 years in Auss though now back in the UK and suspect many of us don't know this full story. I will return to find the blazed trees one day and will visit the Totnes statue. It bought back the words of the song Under the shade of the Coolabah tree.

Story
Growing up in Dundee, Scotland, Cox lost his father when he was just eight years old and was brought up by his three elder sisters in the aftermath of his mother's nervous breakdowns and ultimate hospitalisation. After joining the Dundee Repertory Theatre at the age of 15, you could say the rest is history—but that is to overlook the enormous graft that has gone into the making of the legend we know today. This is his untold story.

Quite a luvy

Quite an emphasis on stage luviness...comes across as a little too self regarding tucked under a layer of socially acceptable regard for others. Feels like yr in a theatre rather than hearing a biog. Overall a likeable man but in the end I don't feel I know Brian Cox in depth.

Story
If you've ever laughed your way through David Sedaris' cheerfully misanthropic stories, you might think you know what you're getting with Calypso. You'd be wrong. When he buys a beach house on the Carolina coast, Sedaris envisions long, relaxing vacations spent playing board games and lounging in the sun with those he loves most. And life at the Sea Section, as he names the vacation home, is exactly as idyllic as he imagined, except for one tiny, vexing realization: it's impossible to take a vacation from yourself.
