Story
Judy, a beautiful liver and white English pointer, and the only animal POW of WWII, truly was a dog in a million. Whether she was dragging men to safety from the wreckage of a torpedoed ship, scavenging food to help feed the starving inmates of a hellish Japanese POW camp, or by her presence alone bringing inspiration and hope to men living through the 20th century's darkest days, she was cherished and adored by the British, Australian, American and other Allied servicemen who fought to survive alongside her.

You forget that people born in the 1920’s (not long ago) were inhumane and awful to other human beings. Those poor men and women suffered so much and for what. The railway was never used.

Excellently read by the narrator and brilliant written. This story grabs you from the off and you can’t stop listening. You love both the dog and his handler in equal measure as it progresses. A true story of love for an animal and his dad in measure. We are so blessed to have this Increadible bond with animals. So many front line soldiers owe their lives to this pair of hero’s. I would love to know more about what happened to him when he retired. A second book surely is needed here. Must read!!!!

Story
When 3 Para began their assault under cover of darkness on Mount Longdon in June 1982, nobody knew what to expect. The three platoons of B Company each approached the mountain silently, treading carefully through a series of defensive minefields. But following an explosion, fighting quickly escalated with shocking speed and severity, resulting in some of the bloodiest close hand fighting, terrible injuries and shocking loss of life experienced by British troops since the Korean war.

Wow. I have read so many books on the Falklands conflict over the years but this exceptional blow by blow account of the action and its consequences is nothing short of amazing. Well done to everyone who took part and played their role. The British Army makes mistakes but the grit just allows them to push on.

Amazing! Best Commando book I have ever read

You can’t help but be dragged along at pace through countless encounters that Monty talks about. If it were a paperback book you would never put it down.
The pace, tone and overall acknowledgement of what the Royals have done and continue to do today is amazing to listen to.
The ending was sickening but made me feel for everyone who has served in combat and their families who will ultimately be struggling too.
If you’re thinking of getting the book, don’t think just get it.

Among You is the gripping real-life story of a soldier serving on the front line in Iraq and Afghanistan, and an unforgettable, unflinching account of the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder. Jake Wood lives parallel lives: encased in the glass tower of an international investment bank by day, he is also a dedicated TA soldier who serves on the front line during the invasion of Iraq, later returning to the war zone to conduct surveillance on insurgents.

A really good understanding of the frustrations of being in the armed forces and the impact it can have on your life. I got a little lost in the girl at work part of the book but as it was a key motivation for going back on tour I see why it was in there.
Humbling to get under the skin and see the affects killing can have on a mans psyche.
Good outcome in the end too. Really well narrated and the pace was excellent.
Good read would recommend.

Parnell and his men assumed they would be facing a ragtag bunch of civilians, but in May 2006 what started out as a routine patrol through the lower mountains of the Hindu Kush became a brutal ambush.

Wow. Wow. Wow.
Right from the off the story sucks you in. The narration is brilliant and you feel like your right there with the men. An almost Zulu moment they got into is expertly written.
I am always saddened by war and the effects is has on the men and women who play a part in it.
Get this book you won’t be let down.
