Why so much foul language ?
Reviewed: 07-11-24
The use of so much foul language is so unnecessary and is more so when it is used by female characters and is spoken by a female narrator , it is so inelegant and completely offensive when it invades my living space . Quite how this sort of writing is expected to appeal to the majority of listeners is beyond belief , when , the absence of such language is offensive to nobody and would therefore appeal to every listener and offend no one , this has been a waste of a credit and also will lead to the failure of my purchasing any other books by this author making it a commercial mistake as far as I am concerned .

A vehicle for foul language
Reviewed: 08-09-24
If you think of everything that is foul in life then this contains just about most of it . This is peopled with characters who have nothing but foul thoughts and are in the main unable to express themselves without resorting to the foulest of language including the F word and the C word and mostly at the top of their voice .

A D I , that is unable to speak properly
Reviewed: 06-09-24
This narrator for some reason is trying to convince me that a person was able to become a female detective inspector having not been educated enough to be able to speak properly , the latter T in a word gives the word its structure and it is the first basic that someone able to reach the rank of detective inspector would have been educated to reach that level . What ever the accent .

Story
In broad daylight, on a quiet rural road, six-year-old Osian Howells disappears from his own front garden. In the blink of an eye he’s a missing person, taken, in the words of a headline hungry press, for nefarious purposes. DCI Evan Warlow knows that the first hours after an abduction are crucial. Decisions have to be made quickly. Evidence can get lost or compromised, persons of interest need to be interrogated. And one or two have the team’s antennae twitching.

As this series progresses the use of foul language has increased and it would help if the narrator were to pronounce the narrative correctly .

Foul language abounds
Reviewed: 03-07-24
To call this poor is to be charitable in the extreme , the first mistake that a lot of authors make is to narrate their own work , it just doesn’t work , I suppose it’s ego but unless you’re more than very able it doesn’t work , this story starts in the gutter and finishes in the toilet . The use of estuary accent brings nothing to the narrative and the foul language shows the complete lack of the authors ability to be able to express oneself in an intelligent way , this is written in the first person and reads just like a daily diary , the diary life of a corse illiterate uneducated looser . Not a complete waste of money because it is the best way of convincing me to avoid anything by this author ever again . It is best described as an insult to the intelligence .

It's convenient for her, then, when the university's chosen candidate turns up dead...Felix Smythe and Professor Cedric Dillworthy, a benefactor to the project, are invited to Cambridge to participate in the preparations. Unbeknownst to them, Rosy Gilchrist is also there, attending a reunion at Newnham College.

Silly over complicated drivel

Over complicated plot , delivered in a shouty staccato manner by a narrator who has the habit of not being able to pronounce the letter T , so many narrators these days seem to think that it’s fashionable to mispronounce the English language.

Foul language
Reviewed: 14-10-23
The foul language in this book is way over the top , there are passages that literally contain the F word every other word , no one speaks like that except in an authors mind , it’s difficult to understand why it was thought necessary , I was unable to finish this as it was just too insulting . I shall avoid this author in future .

Waste of time but luckily not a waste of money as it came free , small wonder , you could not in all conscience charge for something as grim as this .
