All is revealed!

and what in fact is revealed is Ms Blair's deeply unpleasant and spiteful nature. I was rather hoping to be dis-abused of this notion by this book but if anything it just strengthened that impression. This is a woman who comes across as completely self absorbed and rather hateful. Her obvious delight in shaming others is repellent (as in an account of Gordon Brown getting locked in a lavatory) and you feel after this book as though you have been in the company of someone who is definately on the dark side of the spectrum of human kind. Not an edifying experience.

A step beyond an average thriller.

This novel grips from page one and is an intelligent and skillfully written account of the inherent conlicts within modern day espionage. The author takes a huge step beyond a good yarn and tackles the complex and lonely existence of a government agent who goes deep undercover for a protracted period of time. His hero stradles two worlds belonging and yet not belonging to either.
This is a challenging and fascinating listen enhanced by a splendid reading by Robertson Dean.
Highly recommended for the thriller fan.

I wasn't sure what to expect of this first novel but was intrigued enough to want to hear it. Sandra Howard has done herself proud. This is an engaging and well written book. Above all it is a damn good story that keeps you gripped from page one with full bodied characters and a stimulating plot. The quality of the reading is very important too and can make or break an Audio book for me and this was sympathetically done. Carry on Mrs Howard!

Edna O'Brien meets Emmerdale Farm

When I started listening to this audiobook I was surprised that the author was reading it - it soon became clear that no self respecting actor would touch it. This book is drab, tedious and badly written. From the overly detailed descriptions of the clothes worn by it's two dimensional heroine to the tired old Irish Catholic theme and the shallow psycho babble - it's dull dull dull. The pseudo intellectualism of the protagonists is laughable and the whole scenario reads more like an exercise in wishful fantasising than a serious attempt to tackle difficult though overused material. The sugary and unskilled voice of the author narrating her poorly constructed sentences make this an infuriating and unpleasant listen. If you are looking for good literature -don't waste your money.
