Story
What happens when a Prime Minister suddenly stops being Prime Minister? That's the question facing Henry Tobin—Britain's least popular, shortest-serving post-war PM, who's forced into retirement 30 years early after a bruising election defeat. But he's not going to let failure crush his spirits. Instead, he plans to pick himself up, repair his battered reputation and make his name in some other field—though he's not quite sure what that will be.

By-the-numbers, tired political comedy
Reviewed: 15-12-24
A long way from being Yes Minister. Bought because the first 5 minutes (which Audible gives you as a trailer) was promisingly funny. Rapidly descended into the usual boring politician jokes, with one-dimensional characters thrown in. “Haha politicians are all lazy greedy liars.” “David Cameron and pigs.” “The bodyguard guy likes eating”. Avoid unless you want a dramatised, uninventive version of smug Radio 4 panel shows.

An awesome return to Green Wing. All the humour, weirdness and intrigue of the original TV show. Needs another series!

Story
Meet Lady Toad, Mistress Badger, Miss Water Rat and Mrs Mole as they go about their adventures, messing around on the river, gallivanting in Lady Toad’s shiny new toy and fighting valiantly to save Toad Hall from unruly squatters. In this retelling by Dina Gregory, The Wind in the Willows becomes a story about a group of female animals to be admired for their close sisterhood and fierce independence. Featuring original music and songs by Rosabella Gregory and sound effects captured on location, put your headphones on, sit back and lose yourself in the British countryside.

Why Bother?
- By swampedbybunnies on 08-12-20
Pretty pointless
Reviewed: 12-09-21
No dramas with the performances, or making the main characters female (although there didn’t seem to be any artistic merit to it, just done for the sake of).
The additions (eg detail about Mr Mole having walked out) and deletions stand out like sore thumbs in the gentle nature of the original.
If you’re going to ‘update’ such a classic (which, let’s face it, no one who’s respects the original asked for) then at least get someone with talent to do it sympathetically.
