An incredible story of both grand scale and individuals is wonderfully crafted. This is a story that makes you think in a good way! As much as anything else this is a story about people. Highly recommended!

Story
In the year 2130 a mysterious spaceship, Rama, arrived in the solar system. It was huge, but empty - apparently abandoned. By the time Rama departed for its next unknown destination many wonders had been uncovered, but few mysteries solved. Only one thing was clear: everything the enigmatic builders of Rama did, they did in threes. Eighty years later the second alien craft arrived in the solar system. This time, Earth had been waiting. Now Rama II is on its way out of the solar system.

Rama 3 is very much a human story. Packed with diverse characters and a very accurate portrayal of human nature. Add the incredible sci fi elements and you have another installment of a truly epic story that I will be sorry to see end.

Story
In 2130, an alien spaceship, Rama, entered our solar system. The first product of an alien civilisation to be encountered by man, it revealed many wonders to mankind; but most of its mysteries remained unsolved.… Sixty-six years later, a second approaching spacecraft was detected; four years on, the Ramans are definitely returning. But this time, Earth is ready. And maybe now, with the arrival of Rama II, some of the questions posed by Rama will at last be answered.

Essential but very much the the start of a new arc
Reviewed: 12-02-16
I did really enjoy this story. It's a worthy continuation of the series but most importantly begins the story arc that continues directly into 'The Garden of Rama'. Some reviews have highlighted the fact the authors refer to storage 'tape' and other outmoded technology which seems out of place for the 22nd century.. Well these are minor points which in no way alter the story. This book does a great job at defining the characters also. Plenty of good background.

Story
At first, only a few things are known about the celestial object that astronomers dub Rama. It is huge, weighing more than ten trillion tons. And it is hurtling through the solar system at inconceivable speed. Then a space probe confirms the unthinkable: Rama is no natural object. It is, incredibly, an interstellar spacecraft. Space explorers and planet-bound scientists alike prepare for mankind's first encounter with alien intelligence.

Story
Max Carrados, a fictional detective series, was first introduced to the literary world by Ernest Bramah in 1914. In the Edwardian era, Carrados' stories often outsold Sherlock Holmes, with the blind detective sharing top billing with his fictional rival. George Orwell wrote that together with those of Conan Doyle, they were "the only detective stories since Poe that are worth rereading".

Story
Beneath the gaze of the gods, the mighty armies of Greece and Troy met in fierce and glorious combat, scrupulously following the text set forth in Homer's timeless narrative. But that was before 21st-century scholar Thomas Hockenberry stirred the bloody brew, causing an enraged Achilles to join forces with his archenemy, Hector, and turn his murderous wrath on Zeus and the entire pantheon of divine manipulators; before the swift and terrible mechanical creatures that catered for centuries to the pitiful idle remnants of Earth's human race began massing in the millions, to exterminate rather than serve.
