Story
All Zoey’s happiest childhood memories are of her great-aunt Ivy’s rickety cottage on Dune Island, being spoiled with cranberry ice cream, and watching the tides change from the rooftop. Now, heartbroken from a recent breakup, Zoey can see her elderly aunt’s spark is fading and decides to move to the island, so they can care for each other. When she arrives to find her cousin, Mark, sitting at the solid oak kitchen table, she knows why Aunt Ivy hasn’t been herself. Because Mark - next in line to inherit the house - is pushing Ivy to move into a nursing home.

To predictable and repetitive

The narrator’s use of voice change was too much.
The old lady ( aunt Ivy) and the teenager (Abigail) almost the same. Made listening difficult.

Well read and gripping story
Reviewed: 26-10-23
I didn’t know if this would be something I would enjoy but I was gripped from the start.
I like the way the narration switched from male to female for each character. Often I’ve listened to audio books where one narrator tries to do all the voices and it can be very irritating.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of intrigue.

The narration spoils it
Reviewed: 07-07-23
Well I’ve tried with these books. I think I’d be better off actually reading them.
The narration is just awful. Silly voice and a constant on the edge of tears tone.
Spoiled it for me.

Story
Seren has had a soft spot for her best friend’s brother for as long as she can remember. But when she starts to see Kit as more than just a friend, she knows she’s on dangerous ground. Avoiding him is probably her best course of action, but that’s easier said than done when you live on a tiny island. When Kit declares he’s in love with her, she’s forced to deny her feelings. There’s too much to lose for her to do anything else.

I hoped it would get better. It didn’t.
Nothing much about the Isles of Scilly, just a waffle about the inevitable characters getting together.
Again I found the constant sob tone of the narration very irritating!

The chemistry between Keira and Noah is instant. It only takes one date for Keira to realize there’s something special between them. When Noah invites her to a family party in his hometown, she eagerly agrees, and by the end of their weekend away, she’s absolutely head over heels. Not only for Noah, but for his close-knit family and the stunning Isles of Scilly. There’s just one problem: Noah’s about to move back home, and his plans can’t be altered.

I had high hopes

I’m going to the Scilly isles (sorry…isles of Scilly) this year so was keen to read these books.
I decided on Audible so I can work while listening.
I wish I’d read the book instead.
The story isn’t really about life on Scilly but some long dragged out love story and I found the narration irritating with the pleading sobbing tone one moment and the over sweet tone the next.

Story
Thirty-somethings Tash and her brother Jamie didn’t mean to time travel back to October 1984, but bizarrely, they did, on the very day that Bob Geldof watched the BBC news report which moved him to form Band Aid and record “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” Except their arrival caused him to miss it. So because of them, there’ll be no Band Aid, no "USA for Africa", and no "Live Aid".

This appealed to me as some of the best times and music of my life happened in the 80’s.
It was funny, touching and evoked lots of memories. One minute I was laughing out loud and the next I was wiping away a tear.
The characters were all great and believable and it was beautifully read.
Now I’m about to start the next one.

A slapstick comedy kind of read. Not what I expected. I don't think WY has done himself any favours with this book. I thought I liked him but I'm not so sure now. Very bitchy and 'poor me' kind of reading. I think I’ll stick to just listening to his music. That I DO like!
