Perfect story at the perfect time

This story was just perfect for me right now. the readers voice was soothing and calm and the story was both comforting and inspiring. I'm going through quite a change in my life at the moment, through no fault of my own, but it would be easy to have a lot of what if's going through my head. This book reminded me that different decisions aren't guarantees that things would have been better. It reminded me to appreciate what I do have and to know I still have a bright future and possibilities ahead. I couldn't have read this story at a better time!

I enjoyed listening to this book as a light read but found it a little frustrating when the same point was re-iterated several times when you knew full well that by the end of the book thing will have changed. it is a nice story though and something uplifting to listen to. I do enjoy the readers voice

Story
The perfect escapist listen, for all fans of Cathy Bramley and Scarlett Bailey. A Year at the Star and Sixpence is Holly Hepburn's four Star and Sixpence novellas collected together as a novel for the first time. When sisters Nessie and Sam inherit a little pub in a beautiful country village, they jump at the chance to escape their messy lives and start afresh. But when they arrive at the Star and Sixpence, it's not quite what they imagined - it's pretty much derelict, ruined by debts, and it's going to be a huge job....

Story
The first rule of Sunday Lunch Club is...don't make any afternoon plans.
Every few Sundays, Anna and her extended family and friends get together for lunch. They talk, they laugh, they bicker, they eat too much. Sometimes the important stuff is left unsaid, other times it's said in the wrong way.

Story
Ove is almost certainly the grumpiest man you will ever meet. He isn't as young as he used to be. He drives a Saab. He points at people he doesn't like the look of. He is described by those around his as 'the neighbour from hell'.Every morning he makes his inspection rounds of the local streets. He moves bicycles and checks the contents of recycling bins, even though it's been years since he was fired as Chairman of the Residents' Association in a vicious 'coup d'état'.

Story
When siblings Dan and Hayley Daley inherit their late grandmother's derelict Victorian farmhouse, it seems like a dream come true. All they have to do is fix the place up and sell it for a tidy profit! Except - as anyone who has renovated an old house knows - things are never that easy. The walls are rapidly crumbling around them, the architect is a certified lunatic, the budget is spiraling...and then there's the disturbingly intelligent cow to worry about.
