It seems likely that Dr Bayley was Elizabeth's killer, though this will sit uncomfortably with many people. As discussed (briefly), in the final episode, humans are simply not built to accept the unknown (pp.) We want everything presented all neat and tidy, but life is seldom like this. While Bayley doesn't check every box, he checks enough of them to distinguish himself as the person who killed this young woman all those years ago.
I, for one, am convinced!

I've often thought that AI would be useful in offender risk assessment, and to hear it discussed on this podcast was really heartwarming.
I am not convinced that we are any more accurate at assessing high-risk and low-risk offenders than we are at under/over scoring medium-risk offenders, but the fact that AI was piloted in the custody setting shows that people may be coming around to the idea of working alongside something they probably don't really understand.
Something of a word salad, but a significant step forward.
Great show guys. Looking forward to more.

Why do doctors, generals, civil servants and others consistently make wrong decisions that cause enormous harm to others? Irrational beliefs and behaviours are virtually universal. In this iconoclastic book Stuart Sutherland analyses causes of irrationality and examines why we are irrational, the different kinds of irrationality, the damage it does us and the possible cures.

Story
Have you, a friend or family member been living with undiagnosed autism? For every visibly autistic person you meet, there are countless 'masked' people who pass as neurotypical. They don't fit the stereotypical mould of autism and are often forced by necessity to mask who they are, spending their entire lives trying to hide their autistic traits. In particular, there is evidence that autism remains significantly undiagnosed in women, people of colour, trans and gender non-conforming people, many of whom are only now starting to recognise those traits later in life.

To be invited to experience such a diverse lifestyle is a pleasure in itself, but to be invited in and to be escorted around, as one meets every type of diversity, is something else altogether.
Devon's narration is second to none. I can honestly say that this is the clearest and most concise description of something most of us will go a whole lifetime without understanding: some will probably go their whole life without even noticing its presence.
Shame on them!
Well done Devon. I enjoyed this from beginning to end. If more stars were available, you would have them.

Story
An astonishing new scientific discovery called neuroplasticity is overthrowing the centuries-old notion that the adult human brain is fixed and unchanging. It is, instead, able to change its own structure and function, even into old age. In this revolutionary look at the brain, psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Norman Doidge, M.D., provides an introduction to both the brilliant scientists championing neuroplasticity and the people whose lives they’ve transformed.

Story
About 2,500 years ago, Plato wrote a set of dialogues that depict Socrates in conversation. The way Socrates asks questions, and the reasons why, amount to a whole way of thinking. This is the Socratic method - one of humanity’s great achievements. More than a technique, the method is an ethic of patience, inquiry, humility, and doubt. It is an aid to better thinking, and a remedy for bad habits of mind, whether in law, politics, the classroom, or tackling life’s big questions at the kitchen table.

I've been reading Plato for a number of years, and I am fairly familiar with the Socratic Method; however, I have not heard it described in such a digestible fashion before today.
I highly recommend this book, especially to those who are seriously considering taking this Method forward into their daily lives.

Story
With all the passion, curiosity, and precise yet lyrical prose that have marked his previous books, Alan Lightman here explores the emotional and philosophical questions raised by discoveries in science, focusing most intently on the human condition and the needs of humankind. He looks at the difficult dialogue between science and religion, the conflict between our human desire for permanence and the impermanence of nature, the possibility that our universe is simply an accident, the manner in which modern technology has separated us from direct experience of the world, and our resistance to the view that our bodies and minds can be explained by scientific logic and laws.

Story
The Ape That Understood the Universe is the story of the strangest animal in the world: the human animal. It opens with a question: How would an alien scientist view our species? What would it make of our sex differences, our sexual behavior, our child-rearing patterns, our moral codes, our religions, our languages, and science? The book tackles these issues by drawing on ideas from two major schools of thought: evolutionary psychology and cultural evolutionary theory.
