An excellent historical novel. Taylor sets the scene so well and his characters and plot are tot engrossing. The choice of narrator was inspired, he’s probably the best one I’ve ever listened to.

Not the best Patterson novel. The multiple narrator idea doesn’t work for me. Over the top and spoiled my enjoyment

What an excellent book, I was sorry to finish it. Follett has thoroughly researched everything and presents us with a great plot, celebrating the actual heroes of the resistance movement. His attention to detail is second to none, I could easily picture the characters in my minds eye. Unputdownable! A terrific narrator, too.

It’s very well written, with lots of tension and suspense- it’s just not for me. I hate to categorise a book in this way but it’s definitely something that men probably enjoy more.

Story
Few books have had such an impact as Wild Swans: a popular best seller and a critically acclaimed history of China that opened up the country to the world. Through the story of three generations of women in her own family - the grandmother given to the warlord as a concubine, the Communist mother, and the daughter herself - Jung Chang reveals the epic history of China's 20th century. Breathtaking in its scope, unforgettable in its descriptions, this is a masterpiece that is extraordinary in every way.

I first had this book on cassettes for a long car journey, years ago.
it’s beautifully read and tells you exactly what life was like under Tse Tung and his lackeys. The history of the country is so interesting too and lives of some women described is so moving.
Just get the audible copy, you won’t be disappointed!

Story
The Knights Templar were the wealthiest, most powerful - and most secretive - of the military orders that flourished in the crusading era. Their story - encompassing as it does the greatest international conflict of the Middle Ages, a network of international finance, a swift rise in wealth and influence followed by a bloody and humiliating fall - has left a comet's tail of mystery that continues to fascinate and inspire historians, novelists and conspiracy theorists. Unabridged edition read by Dan Jones.
