I just loved this book. The story is fascinating and utterly gripping. And who else could you possibly want to narrate but Stephen Fry and Richard E Grant. I didn't want it to end.

A story of experiences. It helped me understand a variety of narratives and thought processes. it isn't written with ego in mind, it's a journey.

Catherine Gray writes with brutal honesty about her time under the cosh of booze and her steps into sobriety. It's one of the most captivating books I've listened to, It's poignant, personal and very well argued. Why does booze play such a central role in our lives? It can make easy-going, interesting people turn into complete bores or worse, argumentative and confrontational. It's good to hear that society is becoming less judgmental about sobriety.

Gripping. engaging, clever - just a joy. And so well narrated by Ray Porter, too. This is the second book about The Bob and I can't wait to hear the third. Thoroughly recommended.

Beautifully read by Alexander Armstrong, this book has me in stitches. AA Gill's writing is exquisite. I listened to it once and immediately started again. A real find and thoroughly recommended.

I enjoyed the last two Alien audible purchases, but this was very disappointing. As a stand-alone thriller it really isn't page-turning stuff, but as the prequel it's thin, tedious and disappointing. Performances are pretty good, but that didn't make up for the sheer emptiness of the story.
Not recommended.

I read Wolf Hall in paperback and bought the audio version of Bring Up the Bodies. Both are compelling and beautiful but somwhow the audio version brought the atmosphere alive for me. I revel in the complexity of Cromwell's thoughts - humane, even compassionate, but utterly ruthless - as imagined by the author.

Hliary Mantel deserves every plaudit and award she gets and a whole lot more. I can't wait for the final book

I could hardly bear to hit the pause button when listening to The Chaperone. The story was gripping, the characters absorbing and Elizabeth McGovern's narration just perfect. The changing attitudes towards gender, sexuality and morality are wonderfully portrayed during Cora's long and truly fascinating life. It's a wonderful book and highly recommended!

I came across David Sedaris on R4. The short story - both written and read by him - was delightful and hysterically funny. On the strength of that reading I downloaded this collection, which is simply brilliant. My only problem is that every time I listen, I know I'm nearer to finishing. He's definitely the funniest writer I have come across in years
