Story
The Tattooist of Auschwitz is based on the true story of Lale and Gita Sokolov, two Slovakian Jews who survived Auschwitz and eventually made their home in Australia. In that terrible place, Lale was given the job of tattooing the prisoners marked for survival - literally scratching numbers into his fellow victims' arms in indelible ink to create what would become one of the most potent symbols of the Holocaust.

Having never seen the results of war and the terror that was these camps
I salute those who endured them and for those who lived and are now sharing their memories of the atrocities that happened to them and those around them.
Thank you for your bravery in telling your story to me through this book this living history that will live on through the years, though not the same as living it as you and others did.

Story
In 1360, the Great Bridge over the River Cam is close to collapse. To repair it will cost the town and the University dear, especially if its rotten wood is replaced by more durable stone. As arguments rage over raising the money other, equally heated, differences are coming to the boil over the election of a new chancellor. While the majority support Brother Michael for the post, at least one of his opponents aims to seize it by fair means or foul. Then the discovery of a body under the bridge and the disappearance of two scholars throws a more sinister shadow over both disputes.

Story
Mr J G Reeder, a brilliant and quietly unassuming detective, is a middle aged man whose speciality for more than twenty years has been to deal exclusively with bank robbers and forgers. "I see evil in everything," he declares, "… in dying rose bushes, in horseshoes - in poetry even. I have the mind of a criminal. It is deplorable!" In these four casefiles, The Poetical Policeman, The Treasure Hunt, The Troupe, and The Stealer of Marble, the sheer genius of Mr Reeder shines forth.
