Following a convention in the Scottish Highlands, eight social media influencers vanish without a trace, leaving their followers–and families–in a state of shock, and the police clueless as to their whereabouts. And then, the livestreams begin. Broadcast live from their squalid underground cells, the young influencers are forced into a sadistic battle for survival. With each livestream, their captor pits them against each other in a twisted competition for likes. The influencer with the fewest positive reactions faces a gruesome end–live on camera.

Not disappointed. As always, brilliantly written and narrated. Having listened to the entire series and being invested in the characters, I felt a sense of impending doom throughout this book, which was unsettling, although the same dark humour was present. Met the author recently at the 'Bloody Scotland' book festival. Really nice man and the humour of his books shone through in his own character. Looking forward to the next installment. If you haven't read/listened to this author before I'd start at the first book and become familiar with the characters. Brilliant! Angus King narrates perfectly and I can't imagine anyone better. He does the books justice.

Darlington is a small Northern town where everyone knows everyone. And Detectives Tanzy and Byrd know there’s a twisted serial killer in their midst... They find Julia Porter’s body tied to a chair in her quiet family home in the outskirts of Darlington. She’s covered in blood, and someone has cut out her eyes. Next to her is a message written in red crayon: She didn’t see it coming. Detectives Tanzy and Byrd have never seen the like of this in their town before. Then a few days later a woman is handed a package on the high street. It contains Julia Porter’s eyes ... It’s a warning.

I have read this already. However, this did not spoil the book for me. Listening is an entirely different experience, which, for me, brings the characters to life in a different way. The narrator is so important and in this case was excellent. Swiftly moving on to the next in the series! Well done to the author.

Five years ago his daughter, Rebecca, went missing on the eve of her 13th birthday. A year later the first card arrived: homemade, with a Polaroid picture stuck to the front – Rebecca, strapped to a chair, gagged and terrified. Every year another card: each one worse than the last. The tabloids call him The Birthday Boy. He’s been snatching girls for 12 years, always in the run-up to their 13th birthday, sending the families his homemade cards showing their daughters being slowly tortured to death.

Have now listened to all of the books in the Logan McCrae series. Excellent books, characters, and narration. Steve Worsley narrated the Logan McRae books, and is just brilliant. So it took a while to get used to the voice of Ian Hanmore, but wow!, he also narrated so well. Perhaps not the same degree of humour injected into the Ash Henderson series, and not sure why, but somehow darker. I'm moving onto the next in the Ash Henderson series
straight away. Looking forward to more books in both series. They are so good! A fantastic author.

When I purchased this book I assumed the narrator was Sean Barrett, and was disappointed when it started. However, Peter Noble narrated extremely well. Having listened to the entire series, and therefore being familiar with Sean Barrett's interpretation of the characters, it did take time to 'settle in' to a different narrator. Overall I still really enjoyed the story, the characters, and the narration. Highly recommend.

Story
The first woman had her lungs ripped out. When the same gruesome ritualistic method was used again, it was clear that the same killer was responsible. But there is no precise evidence to link the two cases, except for a tantalising email. Kriminalhauptkommissar Jan Fabel (half-Scottish, half-German) is a man of conscience and imagination. In his desperate attempt to solve the case before more victims are discovered, he gradually uncovers layer upon layer of intrigue.

Never having read/listened to anything before by Craig Russell, I decided to give this a go because of Sean Barrett, the narrator! He narrates so well, and I could listen to his voice for hours!! I'm happy to say I was not disappointed. Excellent writing, narration, storyline, and characters. Need J say more?!. I'm now going to listen to the next in the series, without any reservation.

Story
‘Do you believe the Devil exists, Detective?’ the officer at the end of the line asks. ‘Because if you don’t...I’m sure you will once you get here.’ This is how Robert Hunter is called to one of the most vicious crime scenes he has ever attended. The disturbing nature of the murder is heightened when the autopsy reveals a poem, left by the killer, inside the body of their victim. When another murder occurs, the methods and signature of each death differ so greatly that forensics fail to link the two crimes.

Excellently narrated by Thomas Judd, who I think has settled into the role of narrator, and has improved as he has become familiar with the characters. Look forward to the next in the series.
