Story
It is Christmas Eve, and the air outside is as cold as Scrooge’s heart. Come nightfall, Scrooge receives three visitors: the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Each spirit takes him on a hair-raising journey through time, yielding glimpses of Tiny Tim and Bob Cratchit—and even Scrooge’s painfully hopeful younger self. Will Scrooge’s heart be opened? Can he escape his cursed fate?

I like parts of this but some actors and actresses are trying to do a good accent but it’s not working for me. It’s a good attempt, good sound design but not this time. I appriciate the attempt though.

An amazing look at the life of our queen.

A great book. I love the detail and in depth context which the author included when taking us through the major events of the life of our queen so far. If you like lots of detail and context to understand what processes the royal family goes through in relation to a wide range of events from the 1936 abdication, to the more recent events involving Harry and Megan, you will love this and want to keep it.
Its a huge load of work that the author has put in to give us a good all round view of our queen, and the thinking of those around her. As you gathered I really enjoyed this and will be keeping it.

Ali was dubbed Supercop for the number of arrests he made: more than 1,000 over one 18-month period, when the average arrest rate for officers in England and Wales is just nine a year. In his work as a police officer, he dealt with life-and-death situations on an almost daily basis: saving lives as a hostage negotiator; rescuing the occupant of a house fire; providing tactical advice during some of the most violent incidents; clinging onto a suicidal man hanging from the roof of a multi-storey car park; and entering a flat that had been blown up in an explosion just moments before.

On a warm July evening in 1985, a middle-aged man stood on the pavement of a busy avenue in the heart of Moscow, holding a plastic carrier bag. In his grey suit and tie, he looked like any other Soviet citizen. The bag alone was mildly conspicuous, printed with the red logo of Safeway, the British supermarket.

It's a real account and not a movie, you have to keep reminding yourself that this actually happened. It's truely amazing and takes us behind closed doors of how different people, services and countries were working at the time of this event. Like other reviewers have written, I add my review to it in saying that this is a seriously brilliant book. It's up there with the best I have ever had if not the best.
If you want a real point by point of what happens, who is affected, what they said or have been believed to have said and why, if you like this kind of material you will want to keep this book. I know I am.

Story
On 1 August 1990, British Airways Flight 149 departed from Heathrow airport, destined for Kuala Lumpur. It never made it there, and neither did its nearly 400 passengers. Instead, Flight 149 stopped to refuel in Kuwait, as Iraqi troops amassed on the border—delivering the passengers and crew into the hands of Saddam Hussein and the Iraqi army, to be used as 'human shields' during their invasion. Why did BA flight 149 proceed with plans to refuel in Kuwait City, even as all other flights were rerouted?

The author takes us in to a world that frankly you would be glad you were not involved in. That said the real life accounts of those who were there in August 1990 and after really take us to what happened and why. Thanks to all who made this book possible.

The referendum on Britain’s membership of the European Union in 2016 has been one of the most controversial political events of modern times. For the first time, the man who called that vote talks about the decision and its origins, as well as giving a candid account of his time at the top of British politics. David Cameron was Conservative Party leader during the largest financial crash in living memory. The Arab Spring and the Eurozone crisis both started during his first year as prime minister.

I would recommend this book to anyone, regardless of their politics. David Cameron is open and honest about his time as PM. We get an understanding of his reasoning behind his decisions that worked or not, as well as acknowledging the things which could have been done better. We get David’s understanding of the views of those around him, and a modern look at what goes on behind the door of number 10.
We sea the human side, the things that shaped his views, and the sadness and grief which no parent should go through. We are taken on a journey which gives amazing detail, and we have an amazing look at his life and background. Well worth the 5 star rating.

Story
Hannah Shah is an Imam's daughter. She lived the life of a devout Muslim in a family of Pakistani Muslims in England, but behind the front door, she was a caged butterfly. For many years, her father abused her in the cellar of their home. At 16, she discovered a plan to send her to Pakistan for an arranged marriage, and she gathered the courage to run away. Relentlessly hunted by her angry father and brothers, who were intent on executing an "honor" killing, she moved from house to house in perpetual fear to escape them.

This got a full rating because the author has told us her story in amazing detail. I only hope the author continues to thrive in her new life. Don't want to say to much and give anything away, but the journey that this author goes through to get the life she is entitled to, also takes us the listener on the journey with her.
Anger, sadness, and happiness are just some of the feelings I suspect you will experience from this book. There are some distressing parts though, just to give you the heads up.
